Gigabyte RTX 3080 Turbo - Any reviews/feedback?

GeekJump

After months of trying to get a GPU I finally caved and went to Microcenter to get a gaming laptop as my PC upgrade. I went over to their BYOPC section just to check how their queues work and they actually had a couple 3060Tis a single 3080 and a few 3080 Tis left at MSRP!! They were other people waiting to get a pick up slip so I just went for the lone 3080 before I missed it and had to wait another 8 months

When I got to the front to pick it up it was the gigabyte rtx 3080 turbo v2 ($1050). I can't find ANY reviews or videos on this card so now I'm curious if I should have just went with one of the 3060 tis ($599)? I wasn't going to spend $1500+ for a 3080 ti

So my question is does anyone have this card or have feedback? All the reviews I can find are just negatives complaining about markups/scalpers and not the actual performance/noise/heat

Some extra info for those wondering;

1. It was the Microcenter in Houston. Unfortunately I gave my friends the heads-up to grab some but they were already sold out a hour later when the first got there

2. I still have my old 970 build so I'm planning a big upgrade/jump

3. Planning for 1440p gaming, video editing, and maybe 4k gaming (if there's some good BF sales)

4. I know I lucked out with the price because the cheapest online was $1500 for this model and I know the 3060 ti would have been a big jump for me but i wanted a big BIG jump

5. If there is some crazy heating or some other issue with this card I got 15 days to return, but blocked from buying a new card for 30 days at MC.

6. Still shopping for parts (waiting for BF) so haven't broke the seal yet. If I do keep it I'm sticking it in my current build until I get new parts 😝

Goodluck getting any RMA help with Gigabyte stuff.

Yeah I heard about that before. My usual go-tos are EVGA and Asus but the only none gigabyte cards they had were the 3080 tis, hopefully I won't need to deal with it here.

With all the material shortages it is now. I'd take a $100-$200 mark up from an actual store than buying from some sketchy site/scalper for $500-1000 mark up.

I understand $50-$150 over an FE version for a custom board, not $350

As it is a blower card it will very likely run noisy and hot, just like all other blower cards cards before it. Also keep in mind the power requirements of the 3080 and the fact that it needs a decent cooler to keep it cool and stop it from thermal throttling. Of course this is just a guess based on previous blower cooler designs. If I were you I would wait until a better card turns up.
