What's up with Fortnite's optimizations?

da na

Why does it default to medium settings, DX11 on a PC with a Core 2 Quad Q9550, 8gb of DDR2 and Quadro k620 (and CPU rarely reaches 100%) but default to low, 50% render res on a PC with an FX-9830P, 16gb of DDR4 and RX 560? And the CPU is constantly maxed out... Both PCs are clocking as they should.

Doesn't have to do with background processes, both OSes are almost fresh installs. Is it just super optimized for 15 year old Intel CPUs or something?

No, the default settings are stupid.

No matter the hardware, just use performance mode, high view distance, motion blur off.

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

Probably because like older games...

List of GPUs and Settings profiled for those GPUs.

Config files or GPU databases for AutoSpec detail tuning.

560x tells the game to use Lower details.

Quadro likely does NOT have an entry.. so it default to another baseline default of DX11 Medium.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Sometimes "optimized" settings just suck. Best to go with a common sense approach and a bit of testing...

GFE is especially stupid in that regard btw, it'll either think everything low would probably be best, or everything max 4k, even when there is no 4k monitor and the game doesn't even support DSR 🙃

Not my main machine. I live at boarding school but occasionally I come home on weekends, etc and still want to do a bit more than my laptop can handle.
