unregister a company PC

Iammak27

Hello everybody.

Need help.

I bought a system from my company and it is registered onto the company.

System in question is small form factor Lenovo. Please help me remove the company registration from that.

Ask your company's IT department.

Thanks for reading all this by the way!

By the way, my desktop is a docked laptop. Get over it, No seriously, I have an exterrnal monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, ethernet and cooling fans all connected. Using it feels no different to a desktop, it works for several hours if the power goes out, and disconnecting just a few cables gives me something I can take on the go. There's enough power for all games I play and it even copes with basic (and some not-so-basic) video editing. Give it a go - you might just love it.

Well, if you bought the device legitimately then they should have removed the registration to the organisation it at the time of sale, so it's a mistake on their part and they should be happy to put it right.

If you've done anything other than purchased the device legitimately from its owner, then we cannot help you on this forum.

It's the only legal option. If you bought it legitimately, they should be more than happy to fix their mistake.

Laptop: Dell XPS 15 9560 (the real 15" MacBook Pro that Apple didn't make) Tablet: iPad Mini 5 | Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 10.1
Camera: Canon M6 Mark II | Canon Rebel T1i (500D) | Canon SX280 | Panasonic TS20D Music: Spotify Premium (CIRCA '08)

Keep the receipt near the system to show the authorities when they ask if it was stolen? Otherwise don't worry.

It depends on what you mean when it is still registered to the company.

If you are getting notified about the windows license expiring then the system has a license active that requires frequent checks from an activation server run by the company and the only way to fix that is to wipe the drive and reinstall the OS from generic install media, but if the issue isn't this or is more complex then it is up to the IT department to sort it out even if it is no longer their property since they didn't remove all company registration data before assigning the system to be sold.

-> Moved to Laptops and Pre-Build Systems

If its just Windows with Enterprise activation, reinstall Windows and use your own product code. If you mean that it's registered with Lenovo for warranty and theft protection, then you need to go through IT support and follow their instructions on what to do.
