I apologize in advance for this being extremely long.. but I need help on what to do or how I should handle this situation.

So less than a year ago I purchased a Dell g7 15 laptop, quick specs are 10th Gen i7, RTX 2070 max q, and 16gb ddr4 ram.

Anyway, a little over a month ago,  the motherboard fried and I could not get it to power back on at all. So after spending many hours telling the tech support script reader the same thing over and over again they finally conceded that the motherboard was dead and they would have to send a technician out to swap it. So the tech comes 3 or 4 days later and does the motherboard swap, great right? Nope. After the hardware swap my laptop would thermal throttle like holy hell and the fans would ramp up so hard it sounded like a 747 was about to take off in my living room, and all I was doing was watching YouTube (probably ltt videos like usual). I should mention that in the 8 months I owned this "gaming" laptop, I barely got the opportunity to do any serious gaming on it. So now with the throttling I'm getting mouse trails and while doing work from home which was flash based videos the laptop crashed into bios saying there was a fatal memory corruption error and that a scan needed to be run. I clicked ok and the laptop crashed and shut off. When I finally got it to boot up a few days later I ran cpuz and found out they put a mobo in that had an 8th Gen i5 and a gtx1660 on it.I'm gonna try and speed this up. So after roughly 20 hours total being treated like abdolute crap by Dell Tech Support, they have me send it in for a full repair since they put the wrong Parts in. Well I sent it in and they told me it would be back to me in about 10 days. After 12 days I get a call saying that the parts for my repair are on back order until after October, but what they can offer me a Refurbished machine as a replacement. Am I the asshole for thinking that they should at least just send me a new laptop of the same model since they screwed up the repair initially and now can't repair it in even close to a timely manner? I mean, I spent over $2000 on this laptop at the time.  And just yesterday (8/26/21), I  was sent an email saying that they pushed my case to someone else who "needs an additional 5 days" to check into whether or not they even have a "like" refurb to send me. How is this acceptable to Dell?

Please help me linus.. I'm about to pull what little hair I have left out lol.

Sorry again for writing a novel

Linus doesn't really read the forums much. When he does post it's generally to respond to questions or feedback about LMG content. I'm not sure what you think he would do for you in this situation.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

Yeah, Linus usually doesn't respond to forum posts. I would recommend taking further, perhaps even legal, action.

But to Tom, it's all foolery.

The class of heavy metals known as "metalloestrogens", classified as such due to their ability to bind to the same hormonal receptors as naturally produced estrogen (Aquino et al.), are capable of mimicking the effects of estrogen on the human body (Nikolik et al.). Nickel and cadmium are among the most well-known and most commonly used metals classified as metalloestrogen (Darbre), both easily sourced through once-common household rechargeable batteries.

Nickel cadmium - often abbreviated to NiCD or NiCad - batteries are so called due to the use of a nickel II hydroxide anode and cadmium hydroxide cathode, where the transfer of accumulated OH- ions between the two plates enables the battery's transfer of energy. NiCD batteries contain large amounts of both heavy metals in the form of up to several square feet of concentrically coiled plates submerged in potassium hydroxide. Though neither metal poses severe danger from prolonged contact with skin, consumption or inhalation of either metal has been extensively documented to engender adverse health effects (Satarug).

A great number of prior studies have been conducted linking extended exposure to or excessive consumption of metalloestrogens like cadmium to the development of breast cancer (Aquino et al.) - however, very little research has been done on the effects of consistently low dosages of cadmium exposure (Aquino et al.). Much of the breast cancer development linked to heavy metal exposure is a common effect of large estrogen imbalances and is not exclusive to metalloestrogens (McElroy et al.). Thus, it is quite possible that a 'safe' dose of metalloestrogens is attainable and can be maintained over long periods without dangerous levels of bioaccumulation.

Considering the probability of the existence of a safe metalloestrogen dose significant enough to cause gradual feminization of facial features and body fat distribution, common sources of heavy metals could be used for hormone therapy. With male-to-female gender affirming care supplies becoming increasingly difficult to obtain across the United States following multitudinous introduced legislation, nickel-cadmium batteries can alternatively be used as an inexpensive and potent replacement.

I don't really think he'd do anything to help me.. I mean a girl can dream lmao. But I just wanted to vent some frustration with the situation and get some feedback from the community. And if by chance Linus sees this and has some useful tips, then awesome.

oof. I would try to return the laptop and get all the money back, if not, i would ask them to send you a newer model of the laptop that cost the same as your current laptop.

edit: if you do get the money back, i would recommend the asus g15, it has a 3070 and a 5900hs for $1849:

Most of the time when you invoke the warranty you get a referb as sent to you.

You have to look at it this way. There are still supply shortages, they might not have parts, they might not have a referb and they might not have a new one laying around. Their customer service team is doing the best they can with what they have. Is it acceptable? No, but its probably about the best they can do with the situation we are all stuck in.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Linus does stroll through the Forum, more often than you think. He only comments when he feels he can contribute or a topic needs/requires his specific input. (based on what I have seen in his posting habits).

Warranty service almost never gets you a brand new unit. It's usually a refurb or just a refund depending on the product.

The only company I know that sends a brand new product, is Logitech... And that is if they still do that.

So not taking the refurb, is the same as refusing warranty service. Chances are, the refurb will be like new. If it's highly scuffed, you can contact DELL again and they will likely try to make it up to you one way or another.
