Posted August 20, 2021 Hello everyone. So,as you read in the title i am thinking of upgrading my CPU to either Ryzen 7 3700x or Ryzen 5 5600x because Windows 11 won't support first gen Ryzen and secondly, i think R7 1700 is pretty outdated. The other option is to wait for AM5 socket to be released and buy a new mobo/memory/CPU all together. My current PC Specs are: Ryzen 7 1700 GPU: GTX 1060 3gb but i am waiting for my RTX 3060ti to arrive cuz i found it in a pretty reasonable price RAM: 2x8 Trident G.Skill 3200mhz PSU 750w Gold Mobo: Asrock B450 Just to mention that my motherboard has available BIOS update for Ryzen 5000 series so i won't have to change my mobo if i decide to buy one of the current gen Ryzen CPUs. What do you think guys? Should i wait for the AM5 socket to upgrade my MOBO/CPU or go for a 5600x or 3700x now? Thank you
 Thank you I would get the 5600x - it's better for gaming than the 3700x and much better than your 1700 I wouldn't wait till AM5 because: I believe that AM5 will have many problems at the beginning and that the 5600x will be a safer pick, I would get the 5600x now and upgrade when the second gen AM5 CPUs will come out or even the third ones. Posted August 20, 2021 5600x is a huge boost in performance over the 1700. Absolutely worth it. Community Standards | Fan Control Software Please make sure to Quote me or @ me to see your reply! Posted August 20, 2021 AM5 and Intel 12th Gen are going to be mediocre platforms. Awesome new tech, et all, but... DDR5 will be the slowest tiers that will exist for the platform, (Just like how DDR4 started under 2000mhz, and is now surpassing 4000), and will also be hella expensive for a while. The following gen will have better speeds and pricing should be more normalized by then,
 If the 1700 starts to hinder apps that you're running or games to the point of it being unplayable or unusable then swap out the cpu for a new one. If not I'd wait for am5. i5 2400 | ASUS RTX 4090 TUF OC | Seasonic 1200W Prime Gold | WD Green 120gb | WD Blue 1tb | some ram | a random case
 That's what I think I should do too. But the thing is that I am not playing each and every AAA title that comes out. I bought the 3060ti in order to replace my 5 y.o 1060 3gb and to play a few games that I wasn't able to play before like HorizonZDawn maybe Cyberpunk2077 if it's playable after all these patches,Genshin Impact , GTA V and a few others. To be honest the 1700 has done a good job so far because I'm also editing videos and photos because of my job and it does a fair job. Sooo I think I should wait first. Thanks for the help. Posted August 21, 2021 AM5 might be awesome.. but I think it might be a hot sweaty mess too, and its for sure going to be expensive at first. The early adopter fee is always steep. I would grab a good CPU for your B450 and wait it out for a bit. At 1440p you'll probably be ok with that setup. Sure you can do better fps wise but is it worth dropping $300+ on a new CPU. Thanks i appreciate it Yeah i managed to find the card at a reasonable price where i live, still not close to MSRP but around the price it was at Christmas 2020 when it first came out in my country. Around 570-600$. Sure it's overpcied but it's still a big upgrade over my 1060 3gb and also i couldn;t find any 3070/80 near the price of 650-700$ so yeah. Thanks again I might end up staying with the R7 i got for now and wait till the GPU arrives to check things for myself .
 Not related, but I’ve been playing cp2077 on my pc the past couple days and its yet to crash. A couple glitches but none game breaking, just like some dudes walk animation or something being wrong. I have a r5 1600 and gtx 1080 so I’d say it’s playable now
