I have decided to get into gaming and want suggestions for gaming configs. I want to stick with Intel and right now I don't have a budget for graphics card. So I also want the flexibility to upgrade in the future.

What do you mean by "gaming config"? You want advice on which PC parts to buy, or a pre-built PC to order? 

We need a lot more info if that's the case. You didn't even tell us your budget which is the minimum amount of info necessary to give advice.

Even if you were to change some parts (which I don't recommend) you would still not be able to shave off 200 dollars and still have a decent PC left.

The things you could save money on would be things like a lower end CPU which is not recommended, or a slower and smaller SSD which is also not recommended (that's the cheapest decent NVMe drive, and you will need 1TB of storage for DirectStorage to work).

My gaming configs involves me paying just $6/month for Amazon Luna and citra emulator on my phone. If you are like most people who buy new gaming PC every 5 years, a cloud gaming subscription over 5 years would cost you way less as well as regular monthly games to play without purchase.

What if I swap the B460 for a H410, use only 8 gb ram and stick with an 7200 rpm hdd?

I guess you could swap the motherboard for a H410 board. You lose PCIe 4.0 among other things, and you won't be able to upgrade your RAM, and it only saves you 15 dollars at most but I guess it's understandable in this sitaution.

You want something to play games on, but in order to fit your budget you would need to buy something like a dual core with 4GB of RAM and integrated graphics, built in a pizza box. With prices the way they are, you need to at least double your budget to be able to get something that might be able to play some modern games at low or medium settings.

 

Trust me, it is a mistake to try and get a PC for 350 dollars. It's a waste of money. Save that money (preferably in a mutual fund) for a year or two and buy your PC then. We will soon get a generational shift from DDR4 to DDR5 as well so right now is actually a really bad time to buy a PC, even if it wasn't a global silicon shortage going on.

If not it's hard to get a gaming PC for that price in the current market, before that I could source a decent quad/six core rig with a GTX970 for less than € 350 with some very careful second-hand picking & chinese importing 😉

My current system is a ddr2 3gb ram, core2duo and 1 tb hdd. It's 10 years old. I am willing to jump ship to amd but most of the cpu s I found do not have integrated graphics. I can reuse the monitor, keyboard, mouse, cpu case and psu. I was hoping I could reuse the hdd coz it's comparatively new. The mouse is a Logitech G302 Daedalus Prime

Hold onto the HDD for sure, offload your Steam library to that & then you can even get away with a smaller SSD.

What PSU is it? How much watts can it give, continuous not peak.

 

I need to eat my own words, 3400G's & other AMD CPU's with integrated GPU's are out of stock everywhere and marked up insanely high.

Have a scroll on PCPartsPicker or look on some local stores their websites, for gaming 4 strong CPU cores are important, 8GB's of RAM is the bare minimum (get one stick, upgrade to 16GB's the moment you can)

GPU Wise, the market is so different everywhere but look around, if it's close to MSRP it's a good deal.

You will be able to play those older games without much of an issue keeping the settings & resolution down : )

Here's a video with a similar CPU being used, that uses the same iGPU "UHD Graphics 630"

 

1080p at low/medium seems very reasonable

Add an affordable GPU down the line & you'll have yourself an admittedly basic but more than passable gaming system
