I dont pirate... my friend pirates without a proxy or tor, I think he gets fined...

I dont care for games and stuff, I buy legit.  I wish this cost money, then I would buy it.  I dont think pirating is good, but I think allot of companies like Steam should use Torrenting for downloading games and humble bundle should too.  Much faster.

so... they aren't illegal.  BUT ITS CALLED PIRATE BAY!

People need to realize that the pirate bay is NOT an illegal website. Just like knives are not illegal, but they can be used to do illegal things. It is not illegal to torrent or download from any website or source unless the content is under copywrite protection and not free to the public.

Cool! 100 games to add to my ever growing backlog of games.

Actually it's more like a knife exchange program: people can come to a single meeting place to exchange knives and the pirate bay merely puts up a few flyers as advertisement to sustain itself but charges nothing to the knife trades. Knives aren't illegal, trading knives isn't illegal. Facilitating the trading of knifes isn't illegal either. Yet as soon as people hears about it they scream "oh fuck those murderers"

wait isn't this against the COC?

Nope

This is not piracy, and torrents are not illegal by themselves. This is just as legal as downloading Firefox or Chrome.

Hopefully this will give the developers a lot of positive attention to help them with their next release.

I love how people are bitching that this is illegal. You guys do know that TPB can be used for legal things? Hell, I hosted one of MY videos through it, so that I didn't have to try and find it on YouTube.

I'll have a look at this though.

Precisely. I downloaded Windows 7 Professional x64? and Windows Vista Ultimate x64 from TPB, but I had legal licenses.

The problem with 'legal' torrents is that the almost always are undesired by 99% of the internet.

If that would be the case they wouldn't exist: A torrent needs users, or peers, to stay alive if there's nobody downloading subsequently, there's nobody uploading and the torrent goes away. Try to download something like a Linux distro and you'd see tons of peers downloading.

Also with that out of the way, there's legal uses for torrents as well and they've been mentioned here as well: I've got valid licenses to several games I own but with discs that have become unreadable or maybe even a computer with no optical drive. The easiest, fastest and best option would be for me to download a copy of the game from pirate bay, use the crack that allows for me to play without a disc then enter my legal cd-key. Each one of those steps are legal under fair use of software I've got, it's not my problem that older titles are no longer properly supported and I shouldn't have to purchase a brand new digital copy if I purchased and still own the original.

I meant that the vast majority of torrent traffic is piracy, I know how bittorrent works.

Res ipsa loquitur is not a valid argument to me: If you can't prove all those users are breaking the law you can't assume all of them are.
