Corsair ONE i160 upgrade ram from 32gb to 64b compatibility?

Go to solution Solved by TargetDron3,

The z370 chipset can address 64GB of RAM true, but requires 4 DIMMS to do it.

Not sure what motherboard is in your system, but all the 2 slot z370 boards i looked at could only do 16GB per slot.

Going small has it's disadvantages.

Hi,

As the title mentions, I have a Corsair ONE i160 and I want to upgrade the ram, however I am not sure what is compatible with what and if it is possible?

I was thinking of getting VENGEANCE® LPX 64GB (2 X 32GB) DDR4 DRAM 2666MHZ C16 MEMORY KIT.

If there is anyone that can help with this matter I would greatly appreciate it!

CPU = Intel Core i9-9900K
Motherboard = Z370 Mini-ITX

Should work BUT might not immediately run at the correct speed so you'll have to enable the xmp profile for that.

HOW TO UPGRADE CORSAIR ONE

It is a compact case so you will need to be very careful with what you do.

Why do you need 64GB RAM? Decide first if you really need it.  Most applications will never take advantage of the RAM, including games.  32GB is plenty for AAA titles.  Unless you are running AutoCad or something similar or a bunch of VMs hosted on it, you probably wont see any gains from going to 64GB from 32GB.

Main Computer: CPU - Ryzen 5 5900x Cooler - NZXT Kraken x53  RAM - 32GB Corsairsrair Vengeance Pro GPU - Zotac RTX 3070 Case - Lian Li LanCool II RGB (White) Storage - 1TB Inland Premium M.2 SSD and 2x WD 2TB Black.

Backup Computer: CPU - Ryzen 7 3700x Cooler - CoolerMaster ML240 V2 RAM - 32GB G.Skill RipJaws GPU - Gigabyte GTX 1070 FE Case - Cougar QBX Storage - 500GB WD Black M.2 SSD

Hi,

I saw that you can change parts, what i wanted to know if it is possible to upgrade to 2x32gb and if the rams are compatible.

Yes I need 64gb ram, I am working on massive 3D environments and cad drawings and photoshop etc. Most of the time I am at 80% usage of the 32gb and I need more as the work gets more complex.

Hi,

Do you know if that options will show up after i install the ram? at the moment I don't think my bios shows up something like that for the rams i have.

Everything I see shows 32GB max for a 2 slot motherboard with a z370 chipset.  If it had 4 Dimm slots you could do a 4x16GB, but looks like you are limited to 2x16GB.

So a 2x32 ram wont work in those slots? i googled that chip, it says it can handle more ram

Alright, thank you!  I did check the motherboard and you are right, it only supports 32.

I guess I will keep the money and try and optimize my work.
