Ok guys and girls,

Any issues,pros,cons etc...

Please do not take offence for my apparent confusion or rudeness,it's not intent me to be like that,it's just my BPD,be nice to me,and I'll return twice better,be rude and usually I get easly pissed of...I'll try to help anyone here,as long as it's something I dealt with, and even if you think I'm rude or not polite, forgive me,  it's not me it's my BPD.

Thanks for understanding.

I;m just using the one which came with my case (NZXT H1)

thigs to watchout for

- get a good quilty cable -

- most PCIE riser are PCIE gen 3 - so yu may have to force your mobo to gen 3 instead of auto/gen 4

- th above applies if you are running a gen 4 CPU and GPU

Well I have pci-e 4.0 on MoBo and was told that no pci-e riser cable will work without issues.

No, some gen 3 risers will not work

All gen 4 risers should work, they're mentioned to do that.

Have you replaced it/the screws yet?
If it's any of the ones since a couple months ago, its a fire hazard

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

While there might be some issues from PCIE 4 MoBo to PCIE 3.

PCIE 3 is still more STABLE, while you might find something that works, but there are PCIE 4 rizer, but unsure if it will always work too.

Also like mentioned above, it need to be good quality and not a fire hazard like the recent case fire.

Like not too thin, thicc can be better and sometimes wires might be good too instead of stiff flat cables? (not sure if there is any reason to be different)

they are a lot more expensive than 3.0, if you want 0-1% or more in the future of gen 4.0 for that sweet fps depending on the system.

Like this is what that should look like, with the holes and not looking too cheap, Thermaltake TT PCI-E 4.0 Extender Riser Cable

https://www.amazon.com/s?k=riser+PCIe+4.0

also need reviews, maybe if that works with the current issues. Else it can be hard to find, unless you are able to try one and return until you find one that works.

Its also going to matter if the cable is compatible with your case.  Not all cables mount the same way.  I was hoping to use my old thermaltake riser in a new corsair case, but the thermaltake uses a vertical PCB.

then you do the same, but might not need as "good" quality so long it's not too horrible and reviews are decent... although less need for gen 4.0? unless it has way too much high end ports on it. Although you might have to check on some things, and when in BIOS to see if it gets all the ports or connected drives to show up.

  • 2 weeks later...

I gave up from installing graphics card vertically, but always I have strong urge to put it vertically, because it's nicer to see it.

Dunno,I'm just too anxious that something bad will happen, though the chance is rare,it still could happen.

And as you can see there are no graphics card on the market, the eorse thing it could happen to me is that my graphics card damages with cable, and that would psychologically destroy me.

But sh..t happens when you want something that is not normal,PC turns on you, giving you problems when you don't need them, but if you insist on making something that is not normal, often sh..t happens.

But I barely control that urge to put GPU vertically.

I just wish I could here find and buy best riser cable and install it,that way I wouldn't worry about possible issues with it.
