1440p 144hz for 300usd

https://www.amazon.com/LG-27GL83A-B-Ultragear-Compatible-Monitor/dp/B07YGZL8XF/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=LG+83a&qid=1624487620&sr=8-1

you do lose some contrast but the colors are good

for 450 go for https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16824475096?Description=msi 27 qd&cm_re=msi_27 qd-_-24-475-096-_-Product this is what i'd get for 1440p, good contrast, good colors, only problem is the quality control, lots of reports of dead pixels.

you could wait for the LG 27GP850 but it isn't worth it over the msi imho.

The closer you get to/above  the 1k range, just get an oled.

https://www.newegg.com/lg-cx-series-48/p/N82E16889007754?Description=LG oled&cm_re=LG_oled-_-89-007-754-_-Product&quicklink=true

If you really want a 4k true hdr monitor then the only good option really is the pg32uqx, which is 3k usd

Personally in retrospec, i'm glad i got the x27 (or the pg27uq) for 1500usd on sale (it's discontinued), it's 27inch 4k but i sit close and i do notice the pixels on a 27inch 1440p after im used to the 4k, i unplugged the fan, removed a panel off the back and have a silent tower fan sitting behind the monitor. You can still get one used on ebay but i don't really recommend it as much as the msi monitor. it's going for 900-1000usd used.

I mean the LG CX 48 is great as I have the 65-inch version, but I play a lot of static display games MMO's, RPGs, and use programs like Z-brush. I have a fear of burn in and just don't want the headache even though they have a lot of burns in protections now days.

If you want to go 4K 144Hz, get the LG 27GN950. If you also have a console and need HDMI 2.1, get the LG 27GP950.

Alternatively you could go for 1440p 240Hz in the same budget of around $900. Here i'd recommend the Asus PG279QM.

I think I'm gonna get this https://www.amazon.com/LG-38GL950G-B-Ultragear-Monitor-Refresh/dp/B07ZS1DZM1/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=LG+38GL950G-B+38&qid=1624586291&s=electronics&sr=1-2. I saw where you said the 27950 was a great monitor, but I wanted to go wider. The Samsung 49 inch would be good for me, but I hate that much curve in a monitor! I don't like monitors that curve around that hard!

the only problem i have with that monitor is the price you are paying for the size and curve, the image quality is actually the same as the 300dollar option, and is 600usd more than the 34inch option, of course it all depends desk size and personal preferences.

Also for a bit more, you can get hdr1000 (even though windows suck at it)

I agree that it's hard to justify the 38GL950 pricing over the 34" models as there is nothing you get other than 4" more screen (and a harder to drive resolution). I'd rather take the extra money if you consider buying high end and go for a real HDR monitor too. In that case i can vouch for the PG35VQ. The HDR experience is even better than my C9 OLED TV. Yes, the price is steep, but since you're already considering the 38GL950 i'd guess money is not a problem.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

I wanted an upgrade from 27 inches. I also am looking at the reviews for the Alienware AW3821DW and can get one local from a guy for 1k brand new in a box.

The Alienware is a nice one. But imma wait for a few days before deciding on a monitor.
