Is AMD cpu with Nvidia gpu is bad combo ?

KrystianTheFox

So I was thinking and looking in internet but nowhere the answer, so I am going to ask here. Is AMD CPU and NVIDIA GPU a bad combo ? (the same is for intel and AMD) because I don't know. The only one that I did find that and CPU and AMD GPU is a good combo (obviously) but AMD and NVIDIA I don't know, so can someone answer that question ? Thanks

Why would it be? I don't see any reason as to why an AMD CPU wouldn't work well with an NVIDIA GPU. I've used my GTX770 with my ryzen 3 3100 for a while until I got a better GPU and had no issues with it.

There's no such thing as a "bad combo" unless one part is bottlenecking the other.

Hence why you would normally try to price-match both parts to within a comfortable margin of eachother; to ensure you're getting the best of both worlds (Hannah Montana reference not intended 😅)

No, CPU brand has nothing to do with the GPU brand, you can mix and match those without any problems.

As a matter of fact, I have a 2060 Super paired with my Ryzen 3700x

FX6300 @ 4.2GHz | Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 R2 | Hyper 212x | 3x 8GB + 1x 4GB @ 1600MHz | Gigabyte 2060 Super | Corsair CX650M | LG 43UK6520PSA
ASUS X550LN | i5 4210u | 12GB
Lenovo N23 Yoga

The only thing that can be said as "bad combo" is when you spend something so high on one part and so little on the other part

So brand is really don't matter

I mean a 5800x with 3080 is good combo

While ryzen 3 3100 with rx 6900 xt is bad combo

I've done some bad combos in my years... (mostly as jokes)

Dual socket Xeon e5-2690 (two 8-core 16-thread CPUs) paired with a Quadro NVS 295

RX 570 with Pentium 4

🤦‍♂️

No, any gpu works fine with any CPU.

You can use a 6900xt with a core 2duo, or a GTX 260 with a 5950x.

There is no software lock that hurts perf on a competitors product.

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

There's no compatibility/affinity disadvantage that you might suspect along the lines of AMD being able to get synergy or along the lines of AMD conspiring against Nvidia.

CPU: Ryzen 2600 GPU: RX 6800 RAM: ddr4 3000Mhz 4x8GB  MOBO: MSI B450-A PRO Display: 4k120hz with freesync premium.
