ASUS G15 CE... cooling issues with minimal space

cclifford777

So just got an ASUS G15CE and I love the computer and I'm just getting into bigger rigs and didn't want to go to big but I read reviews online and know there is cooling issues. I've already experienced a crash a day into it just with having a couple of windows open doing updates and downloads, not even gaming yet... but I'm looking for recommendations for CPU coolers and am curious what the best set of fans would be... Computer specs below, and am also looking for opinions of the specs of this rig.

Processor:11th Generation Intel Core i7-10700F 2.50GHz Processor (upto 4.9 GHz, 16MB Cache, 8-Cores)

If it can contain normal gpu it's also probably can contain normal cpu cooler like nh u12s

Or if only supports low profile maybe go with nh l9x65 or nh l12s

From what i see not only the CPU cooler is insufficient (10700F, if they left MCE on at stock, is an 150w chip), there is also not enough exhaust for around 400W of heat(Only one 92mm exhaust). The problem is that it uses a prebuild case, so i'm not sure there are any mounting for fans on the top. You should add at least 1 of them if there is mounting for it.

U12S is probably too big for this case. Normaly if a case can fit a 212 or u12s, they can usually fit a 120mm in the back, but this case only have 92mm in the rear. The biggest noctua heatsink for this case probably is a C14S (Be careful, as your GPU is in 1st slot rather than normally 2nd). If you have 2x120 mounting holes on the top, then 240 aio is also possible, depends on your motherboard and memory.

PC1: 5950X/32GB 3800C14/3080 FTW3/O11Air Mini

PC2: 5600G/16GB 4133C18/Open bench

  • 1 month later...

I recently bought the same computer and have similar issues. Overheated while doing initial setup, installing software, and even just web browsing in chrome.

I installed Core Temp and saw it was running between 40-100C depending on CPU load. Anytime it would turbo boost temps shot to 80's-100 and sometimes would crash.

Loads over 20-30% triggered heating issues.

I checked the following:

  • Heatsink/Fan securely mounted
  • Re-applied thermal paste (arctic silver)
  • Verified Power cables were securely connected between all fans
  • Turned A\C to 65F to lower ambient temps
  • Tried to install a 120mm fan above the CPU area to exhaust up and out of the case(not enough clearance to fit my current fans available to me)
  • Tried to install a 120mm fan to inside of front panel near top and bottom for CPU and GPU, I was able to ziptie a fan in place since no standard mounting holes were present.

Solution: Transplant the computer into a better case and install a better CPU cooler.

Side Note: I bought this desktop for the RTX3070 card and planned to transplant it into the above case and cooling before even knowing about the cooling issue, but didn't expect that it would be REQUIRED in order to use it for its marketed use "gaming" unless they meant solitaire.

ASUS really dropped the ball with this build, they should have know better than to put these components in this configuration and not, at bare minimum, install exhauster fans and intake fans. They put a Mazda Miata radiator on a Ferrari!

Good Luck and hope the above has helped.

I bought this same PC from best buy. Got it for $1439 after using a 10% off coupon. I don't get it til Monday but after looking at it and reading reviews it's bad temp wise.

I bought a scythe fuma 2 Cpu cooler and a be quiet 500dx and a extra 140mm be quiet case fan. Ended up costing me $1550 for everything

That little 92mm fan probably spins at 4000+rpm so it's gonna be super loud. The CPU cooler is gonna be garbage like the one I got with my last iBuyPower.

Pre builts are a great way to get a good card and CPU. I wish they would put a decent cpu cooler in there and use a case thats halfway decent.

No cpu mobo or ram atm

2tb wd black gen 4 nvme

2tb seagate hdd

Corsair rm750x

Be quiet 500dx

Gigabyte m34wq 3440x1440

Xbox series x

sorry for reviving the post but I am a little desperate here. Were you able to fit scythe fuma 2 in the case as a CPU cooler?
