LG Ultragear 27GL850-B Monitor Stuck At 100hz

Hi,

 

This monitor is advertised refresh rate at 144hz. Recently, noticed that in my monitor settings that its running on 100hz.  I went into Windows Display settings to change the refresh rate but it wont allow it to go higher than 100hz. So I went into my Nvidia control panel and I won't allow me to go higher than 100hz. I don't know if this matters, but my monitor resolution is 1440p and I have a Gigabyte 2070 Super OC 3x .

 

I would like to see it run on a higher refresh rate, but don't know how or why it won't go up higher. Any advice would be appreciated.

Make sure you're running a high spec DisplayPort 1.4 cable.

Sorry I'm fairly tech illiterate. Should I be using a DPI cable instead of hdmi cable?

That's your problem. You need to use a DisplayPort 1.4 cable.

To clarify, I should be running Displayport 1.4 cable port from my monitor to the pc DisplayPort 1.4 port?

That's the problem as @Action_Johnson pointed out. You need to use Displayport cable. The one included with the monitor is fine. I'm using it with mine and getting 144Hz.
