What is that font?

Go to solution Solved by tikker,

Gilroy Bold comes close in my eyes: https://www.myfonts.com/fonts/radomir-tinkov/gilroy/bold/ (from https://www.dafont.com/forum/read/395446/linus-tech-tips)

Especially the slanted edges on the S and C.

It looks the most like an older version of Roboto or Arimo:

https://fontlibrary.org/en/font/roboto-old (Roboto Old)

https://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/arimo (Arimo)

That is also based on some other threads I found on this forum, but by eye the font looks pretty close to this.

Arimo Bold might still look like it.Roboto old seems to condensed to be that fontface

Personally I'm still not 100% convinced of either though, it's entirely possible it's something custom.

I also uploaded a picture to this font recognition website: https://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/ and it showed some fonts that could be it too.

Either way, it's also possible to take an off the shelf font and editing it some. Here I edited Robot Bold and Arimo Bold, to make it look more like the LTT logo:

lttlogotest.thumb.png.d9c2d96ac9fa80e74f1964bf176cd18b.png

Specifically, I increased the spacing inbetween letters and added a stroke around all the letters, to make them a bit thicker.

They still don't 100% match the original logo though, but you can get pretty close with either font.

Many letters do match pretty well, the worst offenders though are:

- S: the top part of the S is a lot smaller on the original logo

- E, T, H, U, P: a lot narrower on the original logo

- C: a lot more circular in the original logo

I think the L, I and N match pretty well.

I haven't check the license on the Arimo or Roboto logo, but if they're for example free to edit (and not publish the deravative work), it's entirely possible they took one of these fonts and edited it to the point of being something new.

Top one is graphik semibold, bottom one is Segoe UI black

Neither matches perfectly. Curves are very different on Segoe. Graphik has fuller curves than the forum logo font.

Just a guess but I think its custom or a custom adaptation of an existing font. I know linus doesn't usually respond to these things but you might as well try. @LinusTechwhat is this?

These both don't really look like close matches to me, but that's just my opinion.

By the way, do you want the font to make a '#LIEnus" meme? Because in that case you could just cut out the "E" in "TECH" and just paste that between the 'I' and 'N'.

I tried looking through the inspect, but either chrome inspect is broken, or I didn't look at it well enough

Hey, that actually looks correct. But it still needs to be denser/bolder. Is there a gilroy black, or superbold?

There's a bunch of them, including heavy or black: https://www.myfonts.com/fonts/radomir-tinkov/gilroy

It's gilroy heavy in that case. Gilroy black is still too thin
