Why does Windows update still say "The Windows 10 May 2020 Update is on its way"?

When I open Windows update it says "The Windows 10 May 2020 Update is on its way. Once it’s ready for your device, you’ll see the update available on this page." even though its way past May 2020, how do I fix this? I even click check for updates but it just shows this screen.

Yea, that is the latest update but for some reason my computer thinks that the windows 10 2004 update hasn't been released. I still am wondering how to fix it?

Your PC is on 1909 / 18363. I would say that your PC probably supports 2004+ if you manually upgrade with the MediaCreationTool, but 1909 is still up to date (it is End of Life for consumers, but it still has the latest patch) so I would recommend just waiting a few months. I can say by like September if it still hasn't been ready, manually update to 2004.

 

If you don't like feature updates though, you don't have to do it.

Check if the update service is running, set it to automatic and restart it anyways (double click or right click > restart service). Then restart PC and check for updates again.
