Do you have a solid backup of everything that is on it?

128GB is very small these days, and larger ones are cheap, if in doubt, clone your older one to a new larger one.

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

Not to mention he's got 1.5 Petabytes of data read?

You should def consider replacing at this point.  A 256 GB Drive is dirt cheap today, so it shouldn't break the bank.

Backups!

I subscribed to Office 365 for $100 for 15 months.  Licenses for up to 6 users and 1TB each.

My family is backed up and I no longer have to lug around an external drive making backups on a monthly basis.

Including phones and tablets!

maybe?  But I'd think that 1.5 TB after over 3 years isn't very likely, either.

You do realize that while the SSD does track reads, reading does absolutely zero damage to the drive. You can read the drive for fucking forever. It is writes that hurt the NAND flash inside. That is why SSDs have both a warranty void after a time period and after a certain TBW or Terabytes written because at that point it is likely the SSD is very damaged by just plain usage, and the manufacturer shouldn't be responsible for that.

Fuck you scalpers, fuck you scammers, fuck all of you jerks that charge way too much to tech-illiterate people.

Unless I say I am speaking from experience or can confirm my expertise, assume it is an educated guess.

Current setup: Ryzen 5 3600, MSI MPG B550, 2x8GB DDR4-3200, RX 5600 XT (+120 core, +320 Mem), 1TB WD SN550, 1TB Team MP33, 2TB Seagate Barracuda Compute, 500GB Samsung 860 Evo, Corsair 4000D Airflow, 650W 80+ Gold. Razer peripherals.

Also have a Alienware Alpha R1: i3-4170T, GTX 860M (≈ a 750 Ti). 2x4GB DDR3L-1600, Crucial MX500

It also has had >1PB of writes which is insane for a 128GB drive.

At this point I'm willing to consider that maybe that software does have a bug with storage units because such an old drive, even if it was SLC, should have died at less than 500GB.

it may, but after 3 years of on time, and 2500+ power cycles, I find the option of GB being MB hard to swallow.  1TB Written after that long doesn't make sense either.

According to the spec sheet for the drive the drive is only rated for 72TBW so either the counter is broken (which somewhat invalidates the rest of the SMART) or it's one very lucky sample. For reference a 256G MLC Samsung 840 Pro died after 2.2PB written.

okay I misread the powered on time.  It's 100+ days, not 1000.

Hmmm, interesting.  powering it on 2600 times in a year and change?  I wonder if there's an issue with the drive.  It's probably still under warranty.

Now I'm curious. Did you buy this drive new?

This spec sheet indicates that the 128GB model should have an endurance of 72 TBW.

Just in the interest of seeing if you actually have ~1PBW on your drive I'd try and see if another SSD heath check software turns up similar results...

It's entirely possible that I misinterpreted/misread your topic and/or question. This happens more often than I care to admit. Apologies in advance.

probably not needed, too heavily?

Sadly the fact that CDI is reading the data read/written wrong isn't helping here.  But you can use it fairly reasonably.  Just run CDI every so often, and keep an eye on health.
