What do you all think of the Brave browser?

I’ve been looking into this browser recently for a variety of reasons (privacy, battery life saving, etc). I’m always when I see a “privacy friendly” browser be advertised or recommended (for example Opera is one that is frequently brought up, despite the issues Linus brought up in his video on it). What do you all think?

It's really good and the lead dev came from Mozilla. I've also made a couple hundred dollars over the past year or two off their ad rewards program

It uses the Chromium engine "Blink" which I really don't like, but it seems like a decent browser otherwise. I haven't looked that much into it though.

how mozilla want or wanted to create similar systems with the ideas around BRAVE, it should do good.

Although their ADs for this browser, might sound more shady than what they wanted it to sound like.

Would not 100% trust to some of their parts, I do hope that firefox and other browsers pick up on some of these systems.

Either it being how to adjust ads and support the creators you watch, instead of google choosing the path every time for their benefit?

 

I would trust mozilla with firefox more for privacy, and you might have to "mod" it a little more to make it more privacy friendly.

Sadly a lot of sites will not work or break if you go too extreme.

 

 

As for what is the lightest of a more "modern browser"? not sure, but would think maybe edge is up there?

I get what they are going for but I do not like the way they are doing it. More so in the way they explain what and why they do things is sometimes in too ambiguous language.

 

It's why I go with firefox where the dev of Brave came from. Mozilla has been all about that nonprofit, privacy focused, open communication basically their whole existence. That and the firefox browser is just a genuinly great browser that is basically one of the few browsers you can make 100% add free by just installing ublock origin.

I like it. I use it a lot. It even can access the deep web (Tor & .onion websites) but I never really use that feature. I love the ad blocking on YouTube. Very helpful.
