Light Mode or Dark Mode?

Hurr Durr light mode bad.

 

People may get turned off by the default light mode. While I use dark mode as a default, I think that it should be enabloed by default. Looks better, doesn't burn the retinas of lurkers and people who haven't discovered the dark mode(I didn't until my tenth post).

Is it really that big of a deal? There's a menu at the bottom of every page for changing themes. Also, some people like Day Theme.

It's also in the main user menu. It's not like it's hard to change. And sure, lots of people do like Night Theme, but not everyone can use it, such as myself.

Yeah, didn't bother me much, though in Youtube I've used dark mode for a long time... just didn't cross me mind.

Does it really matter? Like how much any registered member actually uses forums without being logged in? You log in and then its saved across all devices.

 

For suggestions like these, where you prefer option and want to force your own preference over others, I really don't get why. Let people use what they want, and if Linus decided that he suddenly wants forum to be dark by default, he can make it so. Like, there must be a reason why Floatplane was made to be light from start...

What if it was automatically enabled for non-logged in people who have their OS on dark mode? Logged in people can get a tip when signing up or something. idk

The the website would need to pull more information than needed for guest users that aren't even members, not sure it's a good idea.
