Do cable adapters affect my monitors FPS?

It won't affect FPS, as in the performance of your PC, but it can affect the Hz your monitor can run at.

Let's say you have a 144Hz monitor, but use an adapter that can only do 60Hz, it would of course impact that Hz (refresh rate).

What monitor, connections and adapter would you use?

You might be able to use your MB ports for a adapter also

MB means motherboard and if you have a port Dvi port on your motherboard you can use that as the adapter, its a bios setting
