Temple os does it have a 32 bit version

Not that I'm aware of - I believe it's only 64-bit.

Windows 3.1

I disagree. Windows 3.1 was a quite useful OS.

windows vista

Also disagree. If run on capable hardware, and updated to SP2, it's Windows 7 but not Windows 7.

With a few service packs and a decent machine vista is decent that is why I put lol at the end but it is out of support so I have made thas topic. To get some ideas on what is to install on my old laptop running vista and for other people that have old PC's and need a new os. Btw I have an old windows 98 pc that I have installed 3.1 on and it runs great

Of course, if you really want a challenge (and I have done this before) install WinNT 4.0 and "try" to use it in the modern day.

Just finding the service packs and patches (which all have to be installed in very specific order) and the USB stack (yes, USB existed for WinNT 4.0) is a real hunt.

Haiku OS, a sort of direct descendant of BeOS. I was part of the team when they started, a team of amateurs (and I use that term in a positive term) and enthusiasts (that was where I fit in) but without serious financial backing, it was never gonna go anywhere. Shame really, I loved using BeOS full-time when 5.0 rolled out.

Yes, for the love of it, good definition.

I wrote a (very primitive) MS Paint-like program for the TRS-80s we had in HS as my graduation thesis.

I well remember the TRS 80's.
Wish I had one to mess around with.

I remember one project we had was to create a picture the machine would "Draw".
I found a way to reduce the lines of code required in BASIC to draw each line from 5 lines to 3, that made it run so much faster and as far as I know I was the only one that did it.
The teacher actually kept a copy of what I did to show later classes..... And of course I got an A+ as my grade.

Sailfish OS.

It was originally a spiritual successor to MeeGo and Maemo (the OS on the Nokia N900) and borrowed some of the concepts. At least when I tried the OS, it was a classic case of excessive tech optimism — it was trying too hard to be different, and banked too much on openness as a hook.

Sailfish is still around, but it's safe to say that there's no chance it will make Apple or Google sweat.

I had one of those, really loved the concept, the execution wasn't bad, until you tried to get online with it.

Ultimately gave it away.

But it was a cool piece of tech

And that's really the problem isn't it? "Good enough" works for almost everyone, and it's really hard to dislodge "good enough". Your offering has to be superiour in every way to get noticed and make inroads.

Now that you mention Sailfish OS and mobile OSes in general, I think about the Samsung Wave devices and their Bada OS. I always found the Android-capable hardware with this limited system to be odd.

I tried the original Samsung Wave way back when. The hardware was awesome at the time, but this was very much Samsung being Samsung, trying to force its own software into the world when the market had already settled on something else. I enjoyed using it... but you were really better off buying a Galaxy S.
