Best psu for my setup?

bobzen

Hi 馃檪

So i im finally down to only selecting which PSU i need for my system and figured i would ask here on which i should choose

My setup is following

full EK custom cooling on cpu and gpu

CPU: i9 10900k

MB: Asus maximus XIII Hero

Ram: Gskill 4000 Mhz 4x8 set

GPU: Asus RTX 3090 Strix OC

GPU block: EKWB quantum vector block

CPU block: EKWB Quantum Magnitude block

Reservoir: EKWB G1 distro block with DDC 3.2 pump

So i figured i would go with a 1000w power supply and have been looking at the聽EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 T2 but wanted to ask here if this one can do the job for my pc or if i need more watt or potential a better power supply but what i can see after searching google the聽EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 T2 should be the absolute best 1000w power supply. 馃檪

Any tips? 馃檪

Id go with 70w for the motherboard, 100 for the cpu, 350w for the gpu

so at least 600, but i would definetly suggest to go 800- 1000 or more

no i disagree because remember the 3000 series cards can have peaks on start up when you play games so prob 1000 or maybe even 1200 watts so maybe go with the聽

be quie!Straight Power 11 Platinum 1200W psu maybe overkill but still 800 watts isn't gonna cut the 3090 bro

1000W is overkill already. Nvidia fixed the spikes with one of their driver releases.

@bobzenThat Supernova you mentioned in the original post is Tier A. 1000W is overkill. The only PSUs that have been linked are lower tier and way too much $.

I think people forget that manufacturers are more than generous in their recommendation, and then add more themselves to be safe. I'm 150W under recommended with no issues.

Ok after reading the comments i see some people disagree with the 1000w and some say its fine.

So the Supernova 1000 T2 will be enough for my whole system with the water cooling system and the distro block DDC 3.2 pump? 馃檪

Thanks for the replies so far 馃槃

That's likely plenty enough and it's a good PSU.

You could bump it up to a 1200W for that setup.

And a few other options would be:

Corsair HX or HXI 1000W or 1200W

Those cards can pull a lot of power and if you are over clocking then the total power draw can get quite high from the PSU to the system (NOT FROM THE WALL).

I have seen mine pull about 800W power draw. 9900K and 3080 FTW3 Ultra.

Im planning on overclocking yes.

So if overclocking i should go with a 1200W power supply?

Thought 1000W would be plenty but i want to be on the safe side because of the pump and such so idk if i should go 1000W or 1200W since i plan on overclocking CPU and GPU since i see that the 3090 strix OC i have also draws alot of Watt too

It's about overhead really, ROOM.

Do you really want to be using 90% or so of the PSUs wattage?

MOST as in almost all of those here don't have these cards and are NOT running a system like yours or mine for that matter.

So they have no clue what kind of power draw they can really pull down.

Been running mine since OCT so I have had it awhile now.

Headroom percentage.

Say your system can use 900W of power on a 1000W PSU, that's 90%.

On a 1200W PSU that would be 75%.
