Using old pc hardware for other things!

Ploooopp

Hi

I'm home from school because I'm sick, and I have nothing to do, I have a bunch of old hardware that I can't do anything with because it's really outdated (2002-2004)
Do you know anything I could do with these parts?

For example, I have an old CPU stock cooler, and I want to do something neat with it, I just dont know what.

Thanks!

So I can put anything here?

Turn it into a Jaeger from Pacific Rim and beat up Godzilla. And preferably Roland Emmerich.

I'd rather not, explosives are not permitted where I live...

use the cooler to keep your drink cold :)

How?

Turn it into a Jaeger from Pacific Rim and beat up Godzilla. And preferably Roland Emmerich.

I wish I could!

Build a nas

don't need it :/

Throw them away

or

Make an artifect of them, glue them all together and make a big robot of old hardware.

:P

Don't have enough glue... Just checked!

So I can put anything here?

BTW my idea according to physics would actually heat up your drink to room temperature :P (or actually not have any effect what so ever)

If the parts still work, build them into machines for friends, cousins, your grandma or make a nas or media box. If non of that applies google computer donations in your area and donate the bits.

If they don't work take them to the recycling.

The cooler well you could hit it repeatedly with a hammer, I am not sure what this will achieve but you could give it a try for science!

Do you have any working cpus or gpus? If you do you should join our Folding@Home team. They may not contribute tons, but every little bit helps  :)

That's kind of a great idea... No Gpu's but I think there is a Cpu somewhere (Not sure though!)

So I can put anything here?

You can still do CPU folding, contribute a little.

I was gonna say, if its powerful enough to output to 720p, you have a very cheap media streaming box. Though with whatever hardware you have your mileage may vary

see how far it overclocks. I have 2 old pcs, me and my friend are going to install win xp on both of them, see who can get their computer so infected with viruses its unusable first. then OC challange, to see who can get it the farthest. we can do whatever we want to cool it, so i was thinking Icecubes in plastic bags on the MOBO and heat sink.

edit: take off any thermal protection settings. I use one of them for old games on my big screen downstairs
