Is this computer any good?

I got this computer today. Is it any good? Anyone have any experience with Acer computers? I plan on using it to surf the web and watch streams.

I ask because I've heard of Acer products breaking soon after purchase, and I've heard horror stories about Acer's customer service.

No GPU is unfortunate for gaming, and the power supply looks underwhelming, but it looks like a standard-width case so you could add a low-power card once those are obtainable again. The CPU is pretty good, having an SSD is a plus, and it seems to be dual channel memory, so for daily/CPU heavy use it should be fine.

It's fine. Probably overkill honestly for what you're using it for. You're obviously not going to do anything but very light gaming on with with just integrated graphics, so just keep that in mind. You could always eventually drop a dedicated GPU in later, though.

i'd say that that's way too overkill for your use. something like this https://www.newegg.com/p/1VK-0003-1D9X0 would've been more suitable for you

OK, but I'm mostly worried about it breaking soon after purchase, because I've heard that about Acer products, and heard horror stories about their customer service.

If you heard such bad things, why did you bother buying an Acer product? Doesn't make much sense.
As others have said, it's overkill for what you're using it for, you could have gotten something significantly cheaper and had the same experience.

I don't disagree on the overkill part. I pointed that much out myself, but I disagree with the recommendation here. That's a drastic drop in specs for just $150 difference, and the upgradeability on that machine is abysmal. The one the OP chose, while more than necessary is a very solid foundation to build on. That Lenovo is just e-waste waiting to happen.

At least one person's everything stops working in one week according to Amazon reviews.

a) one review isnt really indicative of any product, at least one will always die.

b) why did you buy an acer product if you're so worried about it dying

Big nerd.

I bought it because it had an Amazon's Choice label, and I saw that Acer computers were listed as the best budget computers.

The first mistake you made was reading an Amazon review.  People are stupid as hell.

It’s a pre built desktop that’s total overkill for what you want to do. You’ll be fine quit worrying about it.

Generally it's best to ask these questions before you buy something.

Keep in mind that you're more likely to read a negative review than a positive one. A small percentage of people will go out of their way to tell you something is good. A heck of a lot more will make noise when something goes wrong. This unit is so simple that I'd be surprised it much went wrong during your  ownership of it.

And here's my current computer: https://www.amazon.com/Acer...

How much more powerful is my current one?
