It more or less presents your drive in a more "chunky" view so you can locate larger folders or junk folders but if you don't know what to look for I'd advise not to delete anything.

Can i move files from %appdata folders, like for ex. "Microsoft Flight Simulator" folder or "discord" folder, to my other drive without the applications not working? I hope someone gets this question but i dont know how to explain.. I need to move bigger, not frequently used folders, from %appdata%, to my HDD to free up my SSD space.

Thank you, once again.

It will normally break this if you move it from app data

How big is appdata, it shouldn't be that big normally, and Id keep most of that on a ssd as you want programs and cache files to be accessed quickly.

Discord runs from Appdata actually. If an application has files there it most likely will need them.

By the way you can use a program like Wiztree to scan the drive for its directory/file structure and find potential space to free up. I'd stay away from Appdata.

What you're probably gonna want to use is a Symbolic Link to move the folder to a new location and have it link back to the original place.

Oh alright, i'm gonna do that as my last option.. thnx!

what does this program exactly do?

TreeSize gives you a breakdown showing you folder branches and how much space is taken up and by what. E.g. whether a lot of space is taken up by say your Program Files folder or your Users folder, you can expand it and see further where space is taken up.

You shouldn't delete anything really. If you see folders named "cache", "temp" or "tmp", those could be emptied. They are just temporary files, like thumbnails or previews created when you access files and folders.

AppData is settings and profiles folder for software. While you can place your main software folder anywhere, AppData will always be on boot drive. Overall, the size will stay rather low compared to actual software files or OS files. So if you have small SSD as boot drive, just install everything on other drives.

Using Symbolic Links is an option. But I would recommend against using them unless you have very critical need. If you have any issues with Windows and have to do repair or load from restore point, those will be removed and it will be annoying to fix.
