There were very few 3D games on the SNES, Starfox/Starwing being the only well known one. So it wasn't really an issue.

that's not what i meant.

what i meant, is that i really don't want to use the SNES controller on modern 3d games.

The SNES indisputably has the best controller. The D-pad, the shoulder buttons instead of the 6 all together, and the 6 button Megadrive/Genesis pad wasn't even available at launch.  

To be fair, SNES wasn't available for 2 years after the megadrive launch so...
