10900K @ 5.5GHZ - Delid or not to Delid?

What do you guys think? Delid? Below are my results

5.1GHZ No Avx

5.5Ghz @ 5 cores

5.4GHZ @ 6 Cores

1.375V @ LLC 6

Cache @ 4.7GHZ

XMPII 3200MHZ

Computer will boot up and run cinebench @ 5.2GHZ no AVX offset however, will instantly hit 100. Is it worth delidding for 5.2GHZ?

The IHS is already soldered to the die so deliding will be a long process with not much benefit.

Maybe better cooling or thermal paste between the cooler and the IHS.

I will recommend an NHu12s (or an NHd15 (maybe)) for your PC build. Quote or @ me @Prodigy_Smit for me to see your replies.

I personally wouldnt. However I would suggest you to find your maximum AVX/AVX2 stable overclock or set a AVX offset.

you see I thought the same but after watching der8auer he managed a 11 degrees decrease when he  delided.

Yeah the maximum stable was 5.1Ghz no AVX offset.

Thanks guys, I think I will leave it as it is then. Considering im only running a AIO I will benefit from  a full custom waterloop that will probably bring down the temps without delid.

I would not bother with delidding as others have said the IHS is soldered to the die. Custom water cooling will achieve better results if you do so and then there is the inherent risk permanently damaging the die if the delidding process goes wrong.

Yeah, I think I will wait till my AIO fails before going custom watercooling.

Just wondering how accurate SP scores are? My cpu has a SP score of 63 but I'm able to achieve 5.5GHZ. Imagine having a SP 110!

Not so sure, seems to be an Asus scoring thing. Seems the higher the number, the better the overclocking is. Although, is it normal to see that much voltage (VID) per core??? Seems like it would start to degrade, but I could be wrong.

Yeah, I wanted to RMA it when I first got it tbh.

VID is fine, on par with stock settings  I get about the same VID. As far as degradation, i think I will get rid of this CPU in 5 years time way before any degradation happens.

Hmm ok. I know I'd probably baby that chip if I had one. Gotta do some research around for the highest safe voltage you can pump these chips.

IMO if you are looking to set or beat overclocking records (for given hardware/cooling level), then the delid might be worth it. Otherwise, that small extra performance isn't worth chasing. Back off a little and enjoy much lower power consumption and stress.
