You will get used to a different button layout very quickly, I wouldn't worry about button layout. Also the touch screen on the 80d is nice to have, and some menu functions much easier.

I went from a 7d to a r5 recently. Much different button layout, but learned it super fast, about a week and I was about as fast on the r5.

I still fell like the 80d is the better pick here.

Even with buttons, Id say the 80d does some things better, like the image review on the right side of the screen.

Id also say the button layout on the 7d2 and the xti is pretty different. The 7d2 has the rear dial for exposure comp , it has the joystick for af location, id has a af-on button, mode dial ins on the right, there is a top screen. ISO/WB/Drive/AF buttons are on the top instead of the back.

I have seen that camera everywhere I have even used a 60d for a little bit.

I just feel like I don't want to follow smth, I am just trying to say I am looking for a camera that fits me.

As someone that is coming from a 15 year old camera I really don't care about specs.

Can you find a store to try the cameras at? That seems to be the best bet.

Im still not sure how a 7d2 fits you better. The 80d seems to be the better camera here in almost every way. Really don't worry about the button layout, you will learn if fast if you use it.

Ok that explains it.

One thing is current gen mirrorless is a big step up. On my r5 the view finder is darn good, with basically no lag and pixelation. And it allows for much better auto focus and seeing the exposure much better before the shotl

There pretty durable. Just leave the screen in and it won't break any more than the normal screen. And those cameras can take a look, don't worry about breaking it.

But the 80d has better low light, better dynamic range, and better color depth, and higher resolution. Its just a better sensor overall.

Dual cards is nice, but with good cards, id say its not a huge issue. The older cameras have more issue than the current ones. Id also not keep photos on cards for long, copy them to a computer then format them.

I am sorry if this gets weird, but I am used to nontouch screen cameras and static screens I just find that flip screens are kinda flimsily.

I also find my self putting my entire cheek agents the screen and I like that I still can see what my camera settings are on display.

its not that, I like having flexibility to give the person that runs a event that I am shooting a card after I am done.

True... than again my parent are only paying for a camera and not a adapter and I will be broke after the camera.

I also like that I can use a battery from a friend if I use canon.

I also find my self putting my entire cheek agents the screen and still can see what my camera settings are on display.

True... than again my parent are only paying for a camera and not a adapter and I will be broke after the camera.

I also like that I can use a battery from a friend if I use canon.

canons flip screens aren't weak. I've only seen 1 break off and 1 damaged with high schoolers using them

thats fine, its not a big deal

The nice things with that camera is you have a top lcd, so you basically never need to look at the back screen when shooting.

The flippy screen won't be a big issue, just don't flip it out and igore it. Touch screen is great, make some menu things faster, and if you use live view its great for picking af points.

I will warn you probably dont want a passive adapter, as you can't change aperture, use is or auto focus. I wouldn't not want to use a modern lens with a passive adapter.

its not that, I like having flexibility to give the person that runs a event that I am shooting a card after I am done.

Can you copy and paste the files to anouther card super easily?

ALso I don't give raw files out to clients/friends. I always sort and edit first, but thats me

I work with another editor.

I also shoot mostly JPEG cause I find I can still do work but rapidly give it.

As for copy paste, no, I work places were I don't want to take a laptop.
