I'm trying to decide between these two desktops for college

Hi, I'm in college right now and I'm part of the aerodynamics team in project. Right now I'm using solidworks, ansys for CFD and a bit of programming but I'm also going to play games with these desktop.

My main concern is about the cpu, because I don't know whether I should go for a ryzen 9 3900 or a ryzen 9 3900.

Which one would you recommend?

Hmm, one one hand they're outdated and overpriced for the components they have, on the other, prebuilts are the only way to get a 3070.

How long can you wait before you build/buy?

Uhh think you got a typo there bud.

You should go for the Ryzen 9  3900 instead of the 5600x since it has double the cores which would significantly speed up your workload.

I will recommend an NHu12s (or an NHd15 (maybe)) for your PC build. Quote or @ me @Prodigy_Smit for me to see your replies.

I wouldn't say those particular builds are actually that unreasonable price wise (compared to other pre-builts out there), pretty good components and also considering you will struggle to find the 3070 anywhere for a good price. I think the 3900 based system would probably be the better option if your not fussed about having ryzen 5000.

Hmmmm, to be honest i'm having a hard time deciding myself. I feel like if gpu's were a lot more available i would recommend to just build it urself, but you can barely find any gpus for a decent price now a days, unless its in a prebuilt. In terms of cpu, for productivity i may have to go with 3900x, since it has more cores and it is pretty good in gaming, altho 5600x is a bit more performance in gaming from what i see. Although, I think that the motherboard is a issue. On the 5600x build i feel like it has a more solid motherboard. Not only is the 5600x board atx, but i feel like it has better vrm (altho im not an expert on it, im not sure about if its actually better or not). But also the 5600x build actually has lighting on the board altho its prob not that big a deal tbh. i feel like having a micro atx board in a atx case is just improportional. But also, you should get more storage on both builds bc they both have not a lot of storage tbh.
