Storage increased by 17GB???

 My C Drive has 117GB 2 days ago, but yesterday it suddenly grew to 134GB when I was playing Tomb Raider, so I don't know what happened. Can anyone tell me what might happen?

It sounds to me like what's happened is something has expanded the partition on your drive that is mapped to "C:" in Windows.

Why that would happen without you doing anything, though, I'm not sure - I've never known that to happen before

I kinda suspect it's the pagefile

All my apps work, data is still there (as far as i know), so I suspect it's windows resizing the pagefile.sys file

windwos could have deleted temp files/old window updates. or adjust the pagefile

yeah I suspect it's windows doing that.

Pagefile. I had mine set to windows auto - 16gb of ram so I rarely max out, but one time it ballooned up to like 20gb. Nuts. Likely it reset to a smaller size again.

Run Disk Cleanup  (type disk cleanup in the search box) ... it will tell you if there's crap that can be removed. 

if you have dynamic page file, reboot and Windows should reset it to a smaller size. (should, not guaranteed)

Did you recently update Windows to a new build? My laptop jumped from 1709 directly to 20H2 (it wasn't used for 2 years, initially after a power socket failure, then once I got it working again apps weren't installed, the notfication window didn't work and it was dumping GBs of temp files per hour. After about 2 weeks my free space jumped from 80GB to 190GB and the system is fully stable again and everything works as you'd expect. I know Windows holds the previous build for 10 days before wiping the old build - in my case I'm pretty sure that it's only deleted system/temp files that it no longer had any use for as the small amount of documents I had are all still there.

 

If you installed a new build, that would explain it.

If you installed a new build, that would explain it.

I updated windows 1 - 2 weeks ago so that's probably it.
