Just installed a new CPU cooler (Hyper 212 Evo) and two new case fans and my temperatures are in the 60s. This is the same temperature I was getting with AMD wraith cooler and 1 fan in the back.

All the fans I set to quiet mode in the bios but due to the temperature they are staying on 100% and not slowing down.

Any suggestions as to why this is?

what cpu?

and what case?

ambient temps?

if you have one of those NZXT h5xx series cases, then the temps are normal.

also 60C on idle or at full load? The fans should not be at 100% at 60C. On my experience they should be around 40-60% at that temp depending on the specs, fans etc

I have a Ryzen 5 3600

Case is a Kolink void

Room temp is around 20

I thought the same with the speed as i upgraded for to be more quiet as the previous set up was the same volume.

Also the 60s is with light load, browsing internet watching a little youtube. I know for gaming it will go louder but during light usage i was expecting the noise to almost quiet.

pretty bad airflow case. no wonder your temps are in thei 60s. if they stay under 90C at full laod it will be fine.

what can you do?

undervolt the cpu

make the fans run faster

manually set the curve for the fans, not using any presets.

Where did you mount the fans? Can you show us a picture of the inside of your case?

Think that might be my next upgrade then a new case as it was a prebuilt system.

3600 is not hard to cool really. 60c on idle is fine. just lower the fan speed.

chekc with Cinebench R23 "30 minute" stress test to see what temps you are finally getting

That case isn't really a good one for airflow. Plus the Evo 212 isn't really an upgrade from the Wraith stock cooler, in my testing and others online they have pretty much identical cooling ability the only benefit to the 212 is it should be quieter. Your temps stayed the same because you didn't really upgrade anything. If you want better temps you're going to have to either get a new case with better airflow or get a better cooler, what you did is called sidegrading, where instead of upgrading you bought something that has the same capabilities of what you already had. 60c isn't necessarily bad, it's not great either but still within normal operating temps. Try testing it with side panel of the case off and see what your temps are. The 212 and wraith should be in the high 30s to mid 40s idle temp with the 3600. Mounting as well as thermal paste application can affect these temps as well.

LOL so I'm an idiot and never checked the direction of the fan on the evo. I installed a back exhuast fan and has the evo going the other way so they were working against each other.

Just swapped it and its alot quieter and also the temperatures are now in the low 50 high 40.

Thanks for everyones help and im going to look at a new case better flow.
