The 5900X will probably be better than the 3950X IMO, though others will probably have their own opinions.

What do you want to do with the PC?
If you're just gaming, both are overkill and a 5600X will suit you just fine.

5800x is more than enough. I'd only really recommend anything 3900x/3950x/5900x if you're hardcore into content creation/using your rig as a workstation for work, not a hobby.

Unless you just wanna blow cash that is.

In that case I'd go with a 5900x.

Keep in mind that going overkill for gaming just means that you don't fully utilize the potential. Especially with more workstation oriented hardware.

Theoretically buying a 32c CPU doesn't mean that you're buying a crazy OP CPU that's just more than you need. It just means you're spending insane money to not use 24 cores.

Keep in mind, that peripherals, good monitors, a good boom mic, a great headset, mouse and keyboard. All those things can get pricey for the best, but tend to be worth it for comfort and enjoyment when at your desk a long time. If a 5800x is going to be the top of what you actually will use in terms of performance, then saving the money and not buying a 5900x but instead getting a top tier accessory can really make the whole experience better.

Bruh you can get a good streaming and editing pc for less than $2000. I would cut $1000 from your pc budget for a couple monitors and some peripherals. The chain is only as strong as its weakest link.
