Should I make any changes to my EQ for gaming ?

Jorge Jesus

I'm using the steelseries arctis 1, and I play a lot of FPS games, like warzone, CS, R6, etc.

I would like to know if I made any changes in my EQ, I could better hear footsteps and other main things in these games.

Depends on the game really for r6 I like a more v shaped signature, for everything else I like a neutral bright signature so flat bass and mids turned up treble.though I don't eq I just switch headphones.

Ok, btw should I use 44100Hz 24bit or 16bit ?

Changes in EQ may help a bit yes. As rice guru said, V shaped or brighter in the upper mids and treble area tend to be better for FPS gaming. Muddy bass and or too much low bass can hurt footsteps really much. It essentially puts a sub woofer in a room where you can't really locate where it is and drowns out more higher end frequencies.

Keeping EQ'ing gets tedious after some time so as rice guru said, I'd switch headphones.

Beyerdynamic DT series like the 770/880/990 are popular among fps players to hear footsteps.

A V-shaped or bathtub EQ setting doesn't boost footsteps. There is no information in the low end. You need frequencies in the range from 800 Hz up to around 6 kHz for the transients.

It depends on the game. Like I said I like v shaped for r6 specifically. As sounds coming from upstairs are bassy footsteps. Depending on the footstep and how heavy/noisy you can also judge type of operator , how much armor/speed they have.
