Is 16GB RAM enough?

So I want to get a new PC and I wonder if 16GB RAM is enough?? I don't really play games that require much RAM, so I think it's acceptable. What do you think??

What do you plan to do with the computer, if you don't have any RAM-heavy applications you'll be fine with 16gb. Also, how many ram slots in your motherboard? If you have only 2 then I may consider getting 32gb, or getting only one 16gb stick (and you lose single channel). If you've got 4 then just get 2x 8gb and you can upgrade later.

Typically you'd only want to go above 16GB if you're working with application that require more than that. Virtual machines can take up a lot, and emulation devices for application development too. If you're only playing games, 16GB is perfectly acceptable.

Only reason IMO to build a system with 16G of RAM in it in 2021, is if you're on a really tight budget.

In photoshop, I regularly see 18-30GB of RAM usage. In games, I've seen FS2020 use 24GB on my system before, Far Cry 5 I've seen use 17GB.

I'd say depends on the configuration of your system.

Pairing with an i3-10100? Yeah 16GB.

Ryzen 9 5900x? Yeah, get 32GB+

Amount of RAM will scale with your lateral resources, should you decide to utilize them.
