Turkey bans twitter

In comparison they're totalitarian systems not communist systems.

which is different, yet they still have state ran corporations, and use arms to keep themselves in order. Totalitarianism/authoritarian/communism are all very similar as you can have a cross between all three and in theory China and N. Korea use a combo of them.

Why do I care about my privacy? Because I have critical thinking skills. I am able to see how the data that is collected about me can be used to make amazingly accurate predictions about my life.

You mean you don't want your ISP spying on your webcam activities on BBW cam sites?

Let me put it this way - Blocking Twitter in Turkey is not aspect of communism, it's aspect of totalitarianism.

I never said did was either, I just said it seems to be something that a communist country would do. Not saying that it is an act of  totalitarianism/communism etc, just seems like something a stereotypical communist countries response to social media.

Everything you post is about "er mer gerd NSA is watching me" Go take your tinfoil hate back into your cave. If you really watch that much kitty porn, you should be using something like a vpn and not care what kind of an ISP you have.

Why on EARTH do you care that ISP's look at your data? Are you trying to hide something? Everybody keeps circle jerking each other about how ISP's are the worst thing invented.

You're exactly the kind of prick that doesn't realise that around the world there are governments and organisations who have a long history of overstretching their surveillance powers and using the information to try to stop people from revealing and reporting their mistakes, as well as blackmailing people.

Hotspot Shield is the easy cheap VPN to get around regional restrictions! Make sure to use code Linus4 at checkout and we'd surely appreciate it

Now all people in Turkey can use a VPN.

Actually, it is easier and faster for them to just change their DNS to a custom one like 8.8.8.8, or 8.8.4.4, which are both Google's.

I certainly hope thats true. I'd be hilarious if they tried banning facebook there.

Just watching the people pour into the congressional buildings there destroying everything... because their facebook haven has been taken.

You do know that the actual elections to change the government takes place in 2015 right?

Erdogan is nothing more than a charlatan and a manipulator, Turks would be well off giving him a boot.

the turkish prime minister is in a civil war with Gulen. Now The way he deals with issues are very unhumane. But it doesn't mean that there aren't external forces (non-Gulen, non-Erdogan) that are doing things for their own good. This does not include for the public. Btw this situation will not get as bad as Ukraine because the Gulen movement has been handling the situation very calmly. soooo will see. Turkish politics needs someone like Turgut Ozal. Just an FYI
