Possible memory leaks, overclocking related issues, RAM issues

TheRealMrChief
Built my first gaming computer this past May, it was my intro to computer gaming so I didn't go crazy I just kept it modest and cost efficient. Please whoever is helping, actually look at my MOBO specs because I think there's something with it that's "holding me back," I'm just too ignorant to know what to look at.
Parts list CPU: I5 9600k
MOBO: Asus Z390-A Prime
GPU: EVGA RTX 2070
Cooler: Corsair 100I platinum
Storage: 2 Seagate 1TB internal SSDs
RAM: 16GB (8x2) Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3200
PSU: Corsair 750W 80+ Gold

Specifics of my problem: So I've recently started playing Escape from Tarkov which is very heavy on RAM usage and if I have my overclock active from MSI Afterburner my game will crash when I'm loading in. Pretty much every time I can just restart the game and make it back into the session as I'm loading in. This doesn't happen with any other game, Apex, PUBG, Cyberpunk, Rocket League, Siege. If I turn my overclock off I won't crash and everything works just fine, just a drop in frames.
So my friend told me maybe I'm getting memory leaks and my RAM is the culprit. So I did 2 things thinking one or the other would work. I got 2 more sticks of the EXACT same RAM as I already have, Part #'s and everything match to the T except the Serial # of course. My computer wouldn't even post (BSOD) with that installed. I had to get in to my bios, turn XMP down and "underclock" RAM to like 2000ish MHz for it to even post. So then I took out all my RAM and put in 2x16GB (32GB) of the same brand and type of RAM thinking maybe with all 4 DIMM's full it was drawing too much power or something along those lines (sorry I'm dumb). More or less the same issue, it would post but would periodically crash (BSOD), or I couldn't even load in to Tarkov without crashing, not even entering a match, just the menu.

I just want education on what is going. What am I not paying attention to? If I were to make this work with 4x8GB or the 2x16GB sticks what would I need to upgrade or change? My overclock on MSI afterburner is not intense at all, just the stock one it does automatically if you ask it to, and I think +55 on Core clock and +500 on Memory clock. I think the hottest my CPU or GPU have ever gotten was like 73 C and that was during a stability test on UNIGINE.

Thanks any advance to to any of you warriors that help!

There are couple of things, first of all memory leaks cant are not plumbing like terms. Memory leak happens when a software doesnt sweep its junk off ram when its not using it, resulting in stutters or crashes. Meaning memory leaks dont happen on hardware level, you dont need to change hardware to fix it. Can you post a screenshot of your CPUZ, memory tab? Your issue sounds like either shitty software or unstable overclock.

^ It's an unstable OC.

Is the revision of the DIMM's the same? Corsair will use different IC's for the same part numbers, with the only difference being the revision.

Main: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti, 16 GB 4400 MHz DDR4 Fedora 38 x86_64

Secondary: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G, 16 GB 2667 MHz DDR4, Fedora 38 x86_64

Server: AMD Athlon PRO 3125GE, 32 GB 2667 MHz DDR4 ECC, TrueNAS Core 13.0-U5.1

Home Laptop: Intel Core i5-L16G7, 8 GB 4267 MHz LPDDR4x, Windows 11 Home 22H2 x86_64

Work Laptop: Intel Core i7-10510U, NVIDIA Quadro P520, 8 GB 2667 MHz DDR4, Windows 10 Pro 22H2 x86_64

But wouldn't an unstable OC cause crashes in other games to? Also, if it's the OC at fault can you educate me on why my PC won't work with the 2x16 RAM sticks?

How/where do I check the Revision of the DIMM's? I already returned the extra 2x8's that I got, I just have my original 2x8's and my 2x16's

Unfortunately I'm stuck at the office but I will screenshot CPUZ when I get home and post that pic. Should I do a screenshot of it with and without Afterburner turned on?

Edit: sorry I thought they would be labeled like I saved them, first is w/ OC second is w/out the NB frequency seemed to bounce up and down a lot more on the OC version, I snipped the window at a low point

No, not necessarily.

Each game / application can stress the GPU or CPU differently.

Reviews (e.g. 'Tech Jesus' from Gamers Nexus) will event include that in their reviews/testing.

That is why we tell everyone to do extensive testing to make sure your OC is stable.

Your overclock can be looping 3DMark Time Spy for 24+ hours stable, BUT it can possibly crash as soon as you loading into R6 Siege.

CPU-Z should be able to pull the revision numbers of the DIMMs.

Otherwise, you can to look at label on the box, or the stick on the side of the heatspreader.

Also 4x sticks of DRAM is more stress / load on the CPUs Integrated Memory Controller (IMC) vs. 2x sticks.

That said, DDR4-3200 should not be a problem for Intel CPUs, especially for a 9th Gen chip.

Then again, that is not always 100%, as no two CPUs are ever identical.

Ok cool, thanks for explaining that. At the request of another user I posted the screenshot of the memory tab from my CPU-z, I don't see anything specifying revision #, can you help pinpoint that?

I believe it's about the serial number here... not sure.

However. there are other possibilities for your issues as well. not trying to be a hater, but if I see Seagate that's always a red flag to me, so many issues I had with this drive (and didn't hear much good about them otherwise either) and since I removed this drive (2tb "barracuda") my pc runs so much smoother...

Even the known to be awful Kingston A400 is making less issues (in fact none after I fixed it with 2 "power cycles")

Also it could be a lesser known windows "standby memory bug" (not fixed officially and never will from looks of it) that can be fixed by ISLC, intelligent standby list cleaner from wagnardsoft.

I'm using this program and will probably never not use it, I've got always tons of free ram and no stutters etc whatsoever ~

The direction tells you... the direction
