DRAM LED ON in ASUS TUF X570-PLUS with 5800X

SEMISamW

This might be tricky, since I haven't got my video card yet.

I built a PC recently,

The specs are

CPU: Ryzen 5800X

MOBO: ASUS TUF X570-PLUS

RAM: 16GB X 2 Corsair RGB

While waiting for the VIDEO CARD to arrive, I can't wait to put the parts together.

And I thought it won't hurt to power it on, although this definitely won't POST.

Interestingly, the DRAM LED is constantly on no matter how I change the memory stick slot.

Does this means something is already broken?

T_T

not necessarily, just wait for the gpu. ram should be in slots 2 and 4.

also, are you sure the motherboard has a recent enough bios to support the 5000 series?

Not sure about the BIOS, but in the MOBO manual it mentioned the support for 3rd gen Ryzen so I assume this board came out with BIOS updated.

Thanks for the tips, it won't hurt to double check this issue.

I plan to borrow a video card to check if it POSTs.

Just curious about if this is the behavior when no GPU presented.

Technically, the absence of GPU shouldn't affect the DRAM though.

3rd gen ryzen is 3000 series. ryzen 5000 series is called zen 3. i know this is confusing.

your motherboard might not have the right bios and I don't think it has bios flashback either, so while you're borrowing a gpu, borrow a 2000 or 3000 series cpu as well to update bios

first of all. you have to do a bios update for ryzen 5000 first.

then check taht the ram is at slots 2 and 4, or just use 1 sttick at first slot

after those borrow some gpu to tst the system

Oh...Thx, Good to know.

That's little pain in the butt...

I need to drive 30+ miles round trip to the store for this...

One of my friends bought a cheaper board and it supports the 5800X right out of the box.

Thanks for the advice guys 😄

na I thing the bios can be flashed without a cpu, via USB drive

Check your Manual Page/chapter 3-19

edit: ok not sure about that board. It only has a recovery option. not sure if it also installs a new bios if the old one is not corrupt.

No it can't, doesn't support flashback (already checked your manual)

Literally just had to flash my asus prime pro tonight, 3200g wasn't compatible (even though the box was 3000 series compatible) but the 1st Ryzen was. So if you know anyone with a 1st gen, 2nd gen or early 3rd gen. Grab it and update the bios. However mine had the cpu light on and not the dram. Dram passed every time.

Have you tried the crashfree 3 function?

It says that it can automatically USB stick for BIOS file.

I'm just not sure that whether having a BIOS failure is criteria for this utility or not.

Thx for sharing your experience XD

No I haven't, no harm in trying it though, just push ctrl + alt + delete key at the same time on start but since it doesn't have flashback, I've got a feelin it's not going to work without a compatible cpu because with flashback supported mobo's theres a tiny processor in them for it, whereas the one's without it don't have one.
