High temps on 5600x

NLamki

So a couple weeks ago I got the 5600x. I only started using it last week because I was trying to find a resonably priced 3070. Anyway, I've noticed that the temps are crazy. 40-45 on idle -not an issue I think- But while gaming, it hits temps so high that it thermal throttles. I'm using the stock cooler with 5 case fans (2 front intakes, one top intake, one top exhaust and one back exhaust). Are my temperatures normal or should I upgrade to a better cooler?

and for the better cooler, would I be able to get away with the esports duo air cooler or would I need something fancy like an aio? (If I'm getting an aio then I'll save up and go for the NZXT z63)

Another question, my current power supply is 500W. Is that power supply enough or do I need to upgrade? I haven't noticed any issues but would I be losing some cpu performance if my power supply wasn't strong enough?

You say it's throttling, but don't say what the actual load temps are.

So.... What are the load temps?

As for your PSU, that mostly depends on the GPU you're currently using. So please tell us that as well. I'm assuming a 3070, but your phrasing is unclear to me.

usually 85-90 on games and about 100 when using cinebench.

Stock cooler is not enough for intensive usage, just get some high TDP air cooler and it will be fine

What do you recommend?

PSU should probably be 600 or higher, but might be ok. Trying won't hurt anything other than maybe crashing from poor power delivery.

It really shouldn't be that hot, even with a stock cooler. I'd check your Auto-OC settings and turn them back/off if they are enabled.

Regardless though, a Hyper 212 or any comparable tower cooler will be more than adequate.

I've been using it for about a week with heavy games like cyberpunk and microsft flight sim and no crashes so far.
Yep Auto-oc is enabled.
Alright, thank you.

I had a similar issue when i got my R5 3600, got a Pure Rock Slim and that lowered temps by around 10c...

Arctic Freezer 34, Id-cooling se-224-xt basic etc style of coolers are plenty enough for a 5600X.

And the amount of case fans does not really tell that much. A case with very limited airflow with 5 fans is worse than a decent case with 3 fans.

Phanteks TC14PE, BeQuiet! Dark Rock Pro 4, Noctua NH15... Go to the air cooler section, there will be lots of posts with information about good cpu coolers, please check the posts before posting another one

Most of these are overkill.

Go with a U12s or a hyper 212. If you want the maximum cooling then go with the sythe fuma 2 which is like a cheap NHD15 equivalent.

I will recommend an NHu12s (or an NHd15 (maybe)) for your PC build. Quote or @ me @Prodigy_Smit for me to see your replies.
