Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2017) Stuttering

ImperfectSoul47

Hey Guys,

So, this is my build:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15
Motherboard: MSI MEG X570 UNIFY
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory
Storage: Seagate FireCuda 520 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME
Storage: Western Digital Blue 2 TB M.2-2280 SSD
Video Card: EVGA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB FTW3 ULTRA GAMING iCX3
Case: Fractal Design Define R6 USB-C
Power Supply: Corsair RMx (2018) 850 W 80+ Gold

My PC is hooked up to my 4K TV.

At 1440p Medium settings, anytime gameplay loads, it stutters badly.

I would like to play at 4K, but it's downright unplayable, even at the lowest settings.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm currently not overclocking anything, except XMP.

Was the GPU an upgrade? If so did you remove all previously installed GPU drivers? If not this is the first step, use DDU, remove all display drivers, and re-install the latest for your 3060Ti.

No, I just built this PC during Black Friday 2020

I know this reply is late, but I have the same issues after the cut scenes. I usually just wait 10 seconds or so for it to smooth out. I'm only running 1080 ultra settings @ 60 fps. I have a feeling it's just crap optimization...

Yeah...it happens to me when it first launches and then it just freezes. It's disappointing that I can't run this game at 4K with the hardware that I have...I can't even run it with ultra settings at 1080p.

Are you running the game in DX11 or DX12? In my experience (on a Gigbyte RTX 2080Ti gaming oc) the game performs better on more recent cards with DX12 as opposed to 11.

Did you disable Origin In-Game from the launcher's settings? Also worthy trying DX11 and DX12 to see which works best, as @Sam Flynn suggested.

I should have mentioned this, but yes I tried DX12. After receiving a warning that it is beta and may cause issues, I turned it back to DX11.

Hey Zando!

I haven't played around with the launchers settings yet - I'll give it a shot after work.

The game seems to run a lot better after I was able to turn on vsync. It maintains a steady 60 fps, but boy does it make my GPU breathe hard...especially on ultra settings.

I would still at least try it. That warning is there since the game was built on DX11 and added DX12 post launch; I think it's for users with pre DX12 cards. Since your card is newer my personal guess is DX12 would help.

Thanks, I'll give it a go.
