Posted March 19, 2014 Looking to get 3 pb278q's. If the 790 comes out by august or the 880 comes out by august I will get 2 880s or 1 790 to replace my 780ti. My current specs are in my sig. Will that be enough to do 1440p @ 60fps? PLEASE USE PCPARTPICKER. My rig: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/ZBmWjX
 Posted March 19, 2014 your 780ti will be able to do that. but you'll have to turn off some filters (wich dont make the game look any beter imo) and turn it down to high at some settings. id go with 880's in SLI if you want everything up to ultra at 1440p. I wouldnt upgrade your 780ti but if you'd have to upgrade, id go with an 880, i made that judgement by looking back at other dual GPU cards by Nvidia and at the highest card of Nvidia in the same cycle. Posted March 19, 2014 A guy on overclock.net did 7680x1440 benchmarks, it took 3 and 4 way titan's to even have playable FPS. If 880's dont have 5+ gb of vram it won't be possible with ultra settings+ AA turned up. Lemme get the link http://www.overclock.net/t/1415441/7680x1440-benchmarks-plus-2-3-4-way-sli-gk110-scaling Only with 4x titans was it over 60 FPS. You may need something like 3 way 880s, so be prepared to drop 3,000-5,000$ on the monitors+GPU's combined, and then even more if you want the cards to remain cool, which in 3 way SLI they won't with air coolers. You'll need something like a custom loop. Posted March 19, 2014 There'd be no point to get a 790. It would literally be a 780 sli with worse cooling and probably underclocked. Posted March 19, 2014 but more VRAM Just because it says 6 GB of vram doesn't mean you get it, each GPU has 3GB and in SLI VRAM isn't x2'd. Posted March 19, 2014 IK VRAM doesn't stack If you really want the surround experience, I'd say get 2 more of the screens you have right now. Or just get 2 1440p, and play on one and use the other as a browsing+ monitoring screen with teamspeak/ etc on it. The problem with 1440p x3 right now is that it costs 1500$ for the screens atleast, then another 2000-4000$ for the GPU's to actually run it properly at those frame rates+ details @dizmo I see you eyeballing me son. Posted March 19, 2014 Im really not in love with the TN panel on the XL2420Te and would like to upgrade to a 1440p PLS or IPS panel I recently had 3x 1080p "Vg248qe" from asus, while it was fun and all, I really enjoy my 1440p much more. The monitor looks amazing on the outside, and the extra resolution + gaming experience is so nice with the extra details. I'm hoping to buy another one soon.
