Is it worth using sony vegas pro 13 in 2021 ??????

I want to edit yt vidoes and AMVs, but my pc is a potato and premiere pro takes a lot of time to render even a 720p project sometimes gets stuck on 50-60% while rendering, giving me no other optiion other than close it and restart the rendering, I tried to instal vsdc which gave the following error while installing

Untitled.thumb.png.d87b3c1fc4fe9d8da97c71657d750aa1.png

and ignoring it causes a lot of dll errors and downloading dlls doesnt fix the problem.

So I talked to a friend of mine who is really good at video editing and sometimes edits videos for bigger youtubers. He told me he has a copy of vegas pro 13 lying around which he used on his older pc(which is a bit better thhan my pc) until 2019 when he bought a more powerful laptop and switched to premiere pro, but considering the way vegas pro 13 has aged, is it worth using in 2021, all im going to do is edit some gameplays, make AMVs(which requires a lot of filters and transition effects) make some memes(which also sometimes require a lot of effects).

here are my pc specs

Spoiler
  • i3 3210 @ 3.2 ghz
  • Intel hd 2500
  • 1 stick of 4gb ddr3  @ 1333mhz
  • 1x 120 gb sata ssd wd green
  • 1x 500gb hard disk 5400 rpm
  • no discrete gpu
  • a cheap chinese h61 mobo i found on aliexpress (after my intel dh61 bf mobo stated showing some issues in the usb ports)
  • Windows 7 Professional service pack 1 64 bit

I mean your pc is simply not up to the task of video editing really.

Also your computer just from the desktop is so full of adware, virus stuff and who knows what no wonder nothing will work.

Also I have a feeling this is a cracked version as vega 13 is from 2014 and hasn't been on sale for years so yeah no wonder it's not working.

You are also still on windows 7.

Tl:dr computer full of crap and virus stuff + cracked software = issue

Windows 10 will be slow on that machine, especially with an old hard drive and all the Windows 10 bloatware.

Worst case scenario you use Windows Movie Maker,it was made for weaker hardware.

It should work with resolve just fine.

Could be,also it could be not,Vegas' license can be bought as a perpetual licence or a subscription.

Performance is not just storage,Windows 10 hits hard on RAM,and CPU usage will be higher as well.

Take into consideration that OP has a dual core processor and 4GB of RAM.

Also the bloatware's reduction in performance is noticeable.

I'm fully aware. I know the performance and it's totally doable as I run a dell e6 something with a barely better core i5 in it and it is totally ok. Either way that laptop is full of adware and viruses most likely through the adware so a fresh windows install would do a heap and might as well not be on the unsafe windows 7.

I see where this is going, you want OP to install Windows 10,that's up to OP and not our decision.

Yes,Windows 7 is a security vulnerability, but i understand why more than 100 million people still use it.

Windows 10 can be unusable on old hardware, and compatibility issues can drive someone to stay with Windows 7,

Also professional overclockers use Windows 7 because it's faster in many workloads, there are also overclockers that use Windows XP,but that's a minority in the overclocking community.

Laptop was a mistype. A desktop i3 3210 is better than a i5 3220m it has the exact same amount of cores but the i3 clocks higher. Ivy bridge desktops do not have an issue with running windows 10. If you need to fix a massively broken windows 7 might as well go to 10 and go modern you have to use it on a new pc anyways.

Quick heal is seen as an adware as it's an ineffective resource hogging antivirus. It's average score is a 3.5/10 it's worse than windows defender. It also often gets installed unwanted and installs a crapton of useless software that hogs the system down.

But as others have recommended davinci resolve exists and is really good. It will always be slow to render as your system is very low end.

I have been using this since 2013, and the things you were talking about, were a issue until they gave out a totally new update a few months back, which totally changed the things making it better, and about useless softwares, they usually come with the free version, in the paid version there's no useless bloatware,or any ads, +they also give you options if you want to install em or not and by default they are unchecked, this is from my experience as I've uninstalled and installed it a lot of times(for trying later versions of windows to see how they work on my pc, 7 was the best and windows 10 felt laggy)

How about if I just want to do fast rough cuts? is the UI flow good?

Is it fast enough for basic cutting and editing, involving very little text work and effects?
