Buying a digital audio recorder... Bundled mic worth it?

So, I've got a GoPro Hero 7 Silver (waste of money, not even close to worth it), and I've been using my phone's mic to record an audio track, then replace the GoPro's audio in post.

 

This works, but is not ideal. For one, I want to use the phone for another purpose while recording, and doing both screen recording and audio recording is... Yuck.

 

So, following some questions here, I was pointed to the Tascam DR-05X. No problem, it looks like it will suffice for my purposes.

 

Looking on Amazon, Newegg, and a few other websites, I've noticed that this often comes with crap bundled with it in package deals. I often see a Lav mic bundled with it. Is it worth buying this in a package deal with a Lav mic, or would it make more sense to buy it without the stuff in the bundle, and get a Lav mic elsewhere?

I'd get it from a place like B&H or adoramba
how much more is the lav mic? the cheap okay lavs are about 15-30$. decent lavs are around 50-100$ and good ones start at around 150-2k

The RD-05X is actually a little more expensive at B&H, $99 vs $89 on Amazon.

 

I am, however, looking at Lav mics.

 

Thanks for the breakdown on the pricing. I'm going to grab a $50 lav mic along with the recorder.

zoom F2 is a good option, I just realized a the 150-200$ your spending if you don't need a general mic only a lav/external shotgun its a better option.
