RTX 3060TI, RTX 3070 or RX 6800? Prices outside of US

Slazyel

Hi guys,

I live outside US, so here everything is expensive. I need a new graphics card and would like to know which would be a better purchase. I play at 1440p and have a Ryzen 7 5800X and 4x8gb 3466mhz cl16 ram.

RTX 3060 Ti GAMING X TRIO for $633

or

RTX 3070 Gygabyte Aorus Master for $766 ($716 for the Gaming OC)

or

Reference RX 6800 for $766

Do you plan on Ray Tracing? If no, 6800.

If yes, price to performance, 3060 TI. If you want ~~10% better for $130, 3070.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

Definitely not the RX 6800, because it falls behind the 3070 at the same price. At 1440p, I'd recommend one of the 3070s, probably the Gigabyte Gaming OC. The extra cost of the Aorus Master gets you a slightly better cooler and boost clock, but it's mostly frills.

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Peripherals/Other:

ASUS VG27AQ • G PRO K/DA • G502 Hero K/DA • G733 K/DA • G840 K/DA • Oculus Quest 2 • Nintendo Switch (Rev. 2)

Laptop (Dell XPS 13):

Intel Core i7-1195G7 • Intel Iris Xe Graphics • 16GB LPDDR4x 4267MHz • 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD • 13.4" OLED 3.5K InfinityEdge Display (3456x2160, 400nit, touch).

Got any questions about my system or peripherals? Feel free to tag me (@bellabichon) and I'll be happy to give you my two cents.

PSA: Posting a PCPartPicker list with no explanation isn't helpful for first-time builders :)

Interesting... In which games is the RX 6800 slower than a RTX 3070? According to pretty much all reviews the RTX 6800 beats the RTX 3070 hands down, especially at resolution that is not 4K.

Regarding the question of the OP, for that price RX 6800 all the way.

Guess I'm wrong, then. Probably my fault for trusting userbenchmark without looking for a second source...

To be fair, you had me re researching. Granted for the most part the stuff I've been following has been FE vs FE. Granted, you get some of the FPS that you lose out on with RTX by using DLSS, but at 1440p if they're not planning on using RTX, the 6800 just seems to make sense.

True. And I mean, not like it matters anyways. The real answer is you should go with whichever one you can find in stock :P

Guys!

It's happening a sale right now with good prices compared to the prices that are usually charged here. It's way better than those prices i listed yesterday. See below:

RX 6800: $700 (usually $833 here)

RX 6800 XT: $800 (usually $933 here)

RTX 3080: $950 (usually $1080 here)

I'm leaning towards the the 6800XT. What do you guys think?

RTX 3060 Ti GAMING X TRIO for $633

or

RTX 3070 Gygabyte Aorus Master for $766 ($716 for the Gaming OC)

or

Reference RX 6800 for $766

I had a 3070 and to be honest I wasn’t that impressed with regards to ray tracing performance. In my opinion the performance hit was just too great (I play at 1440p 144Hz).
By an incredible stroke of luck a used RX 6800 came up on Amazon at an incredible price (it was actually brand new in box). So I sold my 3070 and kept the 6800.
Having had both cards, my opinion is that the 6800 is the better card if you are not bothered about ray tracing. The 16 GB of VRAM is also something to consider as is smart access memory, especially if you are going for an all AMD build.

If the difference between the 6800 and 6800XT is only 100 dollars, then I'd go with the 6800XT. After all, if you keep the card for a few years, you probably won't miss that 100 dollars.

Yes, i am thinking about it too, the 6800 xt looks to be the better for the listed prices.
