What's the best way to soundproof this wall?

Actual_Criminal

I live in a top flat duplex at an apartment complex and the following wall is the only shared wall with a neighbouring flat. I use it as my office but also want to stream. I am quite a noisy gamer though and haven't had any neighbouring complaints but would still like to look at soundproofing to avoid any future issues.

What's the best cheap way to do it? - it is also a rented property, so temporary issues would be great but not necessarily the only option. (Landlord might agree to a long term option if I pay as I'll be staying here for awhile.)

It is a sloped wall around 2.5m (height) x 1.85m (width)

(*Yes I know those black acoustic panels don't help with proofing and only echoing/sound dissipation.)

I want something a little more professional. I have read online and see people put stuff like cover it with blankets or similar, but still want something a little more special. (especially considering I use it as my office for video calls.)

You would be best to install heavy weight curtains about 6 inch from the wall and ensure they go form floor to ceiling, while it won't be perfect it will help. Best solution would be to build a secondary wall and put in sound proof insulation but seeing this is a rental it is not the most practical.

Best way is to install another wall or make that wall thicker and stronger.

Sensible way for rented. Place a lot of furniture up along the wall, no gaps though gaps let sound through.

Anyone in the industry would suggest shut the fuck up. Its easier to prevent the source then it is to reduce the transfer.
That's the real answer because anything you do will only reduce volume levels by a little unless you actually build a wall.

Honestly, most cost effective solution would be a couple of layers of moving blankets hung from the ceiling with a couple inches in between them.

Best solution is more drywall but landlord likely won't be happy.

How bad is the wall currently ?

Any modern build they usually do try and put a bit more effort in to shared walls both for fire and soundproofing so usually better sealed, possibly thicker, higher quality acoustic or fire panels, doubled up sheets and insulation in between.

Not too bad. I never hear any noise from the other side + I think the adjoining room is a kitchen if the layout between my apartment and theirs is the same (It's complicated because it's a duplex).

Still, at my old flat the walls and floors were really thin and you could hear a mobile phone ringing etc.
