What should I pick, a 3080 ti or a 6800xt?

Skeith_

Hello, I have a new system and I need to replace my GPU. I'm trying to decide if I want one of these cards but I'm having a hard time making up my mind.

Specs of the rest of the system:

Mainboard: Asus cross-hair hero VIII (wifi)

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3950x

PSU: Corsair AX850 850W 80+ Titanium

Monitor: Aorus ad27qd.

I had a gpu that I wanted to carry over from my previous build (a 1080 ti) but it decided to die on me.

The uses for my system is mainly gaming and watching film. I imagine that both options will probably be fine even if I'm aiming high for 144Hz high end gameplay (If I'm willing to give up Nvidia's G-sync that is), but I would like to hear what other people have to say.

Wait how though? Taking it out of the system for a while might let it discharge and work again

Otherwise it just depends on the features you want. Or whichever is in stock and/or cheaper.

Both companies can use Free-sync Now, if you were going to buy a new display with the GPU.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

What resolution?

There is no real info on the 3080 TI yet.

The resolution is 1440p, 144Hz.

I didn't think of a specific budget. Around 700-900$ I guess.

I am not going to buy a new monitor though.

I actually have no idea. I tried to let it discharge but it didn't help. Sent it to testing and it turned out defective.
