Stay Intel it go AMD

So I'm trying to keep a relatively right budget because I'm a child and this is for Christmas I'm already getting a new bike but if love to update my cpu because I'm running an I5 I think 3600 so should I just go I7 or get a whole new motherboard and go AMD?

Most games should be fine with a i5 3600, GPU is what makes a difference in a lot of games other than stuttering.

I have an I5 3600 the main game I've been playing is elite dangerous I have an gtx 1050 graphics card but I'm not really playing any particularly graphically intensive games and the reason for a new CPU is while I have been playing elite dangerous I've been experiencing stutters which from task manager says it's the CPU

Do you mean AMD 5 3600? There's no such thing as an i5-3600.

i'm going to assume you mean an i5 3550.

Theres not going to be a huge difference in going up to an i7 on the same platform (if you can even find a 3770/k somewhere). meaning you would have to end up getting a new motherboard for any kind of noticible upgrade and therefore also requiring new RAM if you go for anything newer than 6th gen intel.

What gpu do you have? If you are using intergrated graphics that is why task manager says it is hte pcu. Task manager is not good way to measure things.

but anyway any low profile gpu will help a lot (assuming you have a bad psu)

Used 1050/1050ti/1650 or new 1650.
