9900K - Stock - Bios temp alarm

GazouTG

Hello, I've build this righ almost one year ago.

Never had problem with it mostly gaming but today I decided to try to OC it a bit.

I ran a stress test (small FFT with prime 95) with the stock setting (everything on auto) to get a starting benchmark.

As soon as I start the test, the bios temp alarm start beeping.

I honestly cant report the temp because i'm pannic-reaching for the reset button.

Should I repaste the processor?

I don't think it's normal on stock settings.

System Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
System Model: Z390 AORUS ELITE
BIOS: F7 (type: UEFI)
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-9900K CPU @ 3.60GHz (16 CPUs), ~3.6GHz
Memory: 32768MB RAM

Don't fear!!! It's just a notification...

The CPU is designed to throttle at 100c. At 115c the board will shut it's self off.

But try not to panic. The cpu and board is capable of saving it's self. constant restarts will kill your OS. Just shut it down through windows.

Check your cooler mounting for sure.

My temps are idling at around 35

As soon as I start, they jump to 95 on all cores

The cooler is an AIO Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML240L

Hehe thanks but can't really help it.

Also, breaking the Os is not really a worry, less than breaking the hardware. I'v been formatting my pcs and reinstalling Os starting from windows 3.1 back in the 90's with pile of floppy disk that took forever)

Haha, yes I have W98 on floppy in a stack. Actually I think it's only like 3 or 5 floppys worth of data....

But any ways, you really don't need to do that. In fact you can probably disable the alarm in bios....

Do you have an RPM reading from the pump? You can check this in bios via w/e header on the board it's plugged into.
