Is UV light used to kill algae in water cooling loops?

I've seen water cooling stuff that says UV light, but it doesn't say its used to prevent/reduce organic growth in the loop. Are there such products for use in a computer build?

“Are there” and “do they work” are different things.  My memory is yes they exist and no they don’t work very well.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

If the water is sterile in the first place, you don't need it.

Radiator coolant already has the chemical to prevent this from happening.

While common for aquariums, the PC-space UV lights are purely for aesthetics. We deal with algae and growth by putting in biocides in the coolants (something you can't do in aquariums) and so there is no need for a UV sterilizer for a PC.

There is no need for a uv light in a custom loop, to get rid of algae and other bacteria you can get an anti-bacteral solution otherwise known as a biocide. Most watercooling manufactures sell these although I'm not shure about corsair.

UV light in build was to NOT kill the organic growth, but to add color effect.

UV reactive tubing and pre-mix coolants, and such exists / existed.

 

But the trend is just now LEDs / RGBs, and colored pre-mix coolants.

 

As already mentioned, the liquid is already treated / mixed with organic growth inhibitors / killers.
