MSI Tomahawk B550 BIOS Update

Laxlum

Hi all

I am building a new pc (also my first from scratch) and it won't boot. I have the abovementioned motherboard and I have paired it with a Ryzen 5 5600x.

I'm thinking I need to perform a BIOS update using the Flash BIOS Button but can't see anywhere if it's okay to leave my CPU and RAM installed while doing so.

Does anyone happen to know if I'm okay to leave the components installed while I perform the update?

Thanks!

yes, you can leave RAM and CPU installed.

You need to put the correct BIOS on an USB flash drive formated to FAT32 and name the file MSI.ROM

Then you plug the USB into the BIOS flashback port while PC is off but connected to power and hold the flash BIOS button until a LED starts blinking.

If the LED is blinking, it's flashing.

If its ON but not blinking, the file on USB was not read, try again.

Once the LED turns off you're done flashing.

You're a life saver, thank you so much!
