5900x vs 5950x

Depends on several factors.  Can you afford to spend that much on a CPU for a hobby?  And how long are you willing to wait to get one?  

A 3700x is no slouch.  

What's the rest of your computer look like?  The CPU is the brain, but there is a lot more to it than just that.

 

How much RAM, what kind of storage, what video card?

If I get a good deal on 3000 series on black friday, I will buy that instead of 5000 series

One question I'd have for you - is the performance with your current CPU adequate? Would something newer/better meaningfully improve your life (free up time?). 

Knowing your use case really matters. "I want something good" is usually a poor strategy.

CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X (Have it already)

RAM: 32GB 3600Mhz CL17 (Have it already)

GPU: 6800XT (99% - Seems like it would be the best deal, at the moment I have 570 4GB, because I had RX 5700XT but it was broken and I didn't want to buy "a real" GPU during this Summer because I knew what was going to be published later in the year)

MOBO: MSI X570 Unify (Have it already)

STORAGE: 500GB EVO PLUS (Have it already) + 1000GB/500GB SAMSUNG 980 PRO (Haven't really decided yet) + another 1000GB/500GB EVO (Not plus)

CPU COOLER: NOCTUA U14-S (Have it already)

CASE: Be Quiet 500DX (Have it already)

PSU: Bitfenix Whisper M 850W (Have it already)

 

Honestly, I don't want to spend that much on the CPU really, but lately I've been valuing my time a lot, because I've already been working part time and in late September I started another business with my Mother. I was doing youtube as a hobby in 2016 (Had around 1000-1500 subs but I decided to delete my channel) and I started doing it again during this fall.

To conclude, I would like to get 5900x because gaming and productivity improvements are significant and it seems like it's priced fair. 5800X in Poland costs 2300zł, 5900X costs 2800zł and 5950X costs 4200zł - so going from 5800X to 5900X I spend only 500zł for 4 more cores, but if I'm going from 5900X to 5950X I would spend 1400zł more for 4 more cores, seems like a really bad deal but I was wondering what you guys think about this, by the way 1$ = 3,8PLN.

In the end it's your money.  I personally wouldn't spend the money even though i can afford it.  If this was a computer that i used for my sole source of income and time=money and the amount of time saved would pay for the upgrade then i would do it. 

For playing games, it's a waste to me.

Tak więc wydaje mi się, że jeżeli nie będziesz póki co robił żadnej pro roboty i nie będzie Ci zależeć na absolutnie każdej sekundzie czasu, to 5900X będzie i tak bardzo dobrym wyborem dla Ciebie - to przepotężny procesor i powinien Ci spokojnie starczyć. Do tego pamiętaj, że im więcej rdzeni, tym lepsze chłodzenie będziesz potrzebować. A 5900X już będziesz musiał chłodzić czymś naprawdę dobrym - np. NH-D15 lub jakimś AIO 360mm jak Liquid Freezer II. Twoje chłodzenie też da radę, ale temperatury nie będą jakieś rewelacyjne. Na Twoim miejscu kupiłbym 5900X, a kasę ze sprzedaży starego procka przeznaczył na coś ala szybki ram, szybki dysk M2. To też pomoże bardzo w kontekście wydajności całego systemu. 

Przy okazji protip - często na stanie 5900X ma nasz MediaExpert. Znajdź 5900X u nich na stronie i ustaw powiadomienie mailowe o dostępności. Dzisiaj przez kilka minut można było go kupić na ich stronie.

Dzięki za odpowiedź. Tak właśnie myślę, że 5950x jest mi niepotrzebny, a cenowo też wypada słabo, bo przy 5950x za jednego rdzenia płaci się 262,44, a przy 5900x wypada 233,25zł. Już na różne sposoby to sobie wyliczam i zawsze dochodzę do tego samego wniosku. Może kupię lepsze chłodzenie, ale najpierw zobaczę jak NH-U14S będzie się spisywać. Co do RAMów, to znalazłem Goodram 32GB (2x16GB) 3600MHz IRDM PRO CL17 w fajnej cenie, ale nie jestem jeszcze na 100% pewien czy nie dołożyć do czegoś lepszego - pytanie znowu się pojawia, czy warto? Do MediaExpert jestem lekko uprzedzony, natomiast z dostępnością są spore problemy, więc spróbuję może faktycznie od nich kupić tego procka.

But I know it's expensive and I don't really need it. I've just ordered 5900x, 5950x is out of my budget.
