What are the people's choice for cases?

Knight07

Budget (including currency):  £1500 (But already gone over)

Country: UK

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: AAA games, programming, nothing too heavy

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Parts List:

Cannot decide on a case, i've been looking at the Phanteks P500A and a few others that have good circulation but can't find anything that catches my eye. (Only thing that it needs to have is a black (preferably matt black) finish and good airflow, and mesh (doesn't need to have a window).

If you have any other recommendations for the build, i will happily take it into consideration.

If your willing to spend $80 the P400A Digital would be a great choice.

If you only have $50 to spend the Fractal Design Focus G would be great.

Here are a few I can think of off the top of my head:

P500A is a fine choice, though.

Also, there are a couple things I think of that you can (optionally) do to save a little money:

Ah thank you, those were exactly the 2 parts that I was on the fence about so the advice is appreciated.

As for the case I just looked at the P400A as well, what are your thought on that case?

GamersNexus did a review on the P500A here and compared it to the P400A: https://www.gamersnexus.net/hwreviews/3601-phanteks-p500a-case-review-thermals-noise-quality

Quote

The P500A beat both the P400A and the TD500 Mesh by two degrees and some change in this test. This amount of cooling at this noise level is incredible, and nearly all the cases that do well in this test are high airflow.

The P500A is definitely the superior option, but a couple degrees isn't likely to make a significant difference with your use case. You also get more fans on the P400A digital than the base P500 or P400 if we're looking at this with a value perspective. The P500A digital is a little costly where you live, so you'd want to get a third 140 mm fan if you wanted three fans, though there is a point of diminishing returns when it comes to adding fans.

As per your recommendations i have tweaked the parts list:

The only thing I might change is the GPU even though according to reviews it is worth the extra ~£60. Thank you for the help and if u have anything else to add it would be much welcomed - like when to buy the parts for the best deals.

Edit: Just saw that at the bottom of the parts list there are some notes, i understand the BIOS update one but cannot verify the ones to do with the case. It would be helpful if i could get some clarification on that.

So the first point is pretty clear: Your board may need a BIOS update.

Second one refers to the USB Type-C port. Your board does not have enough headers for it (it has 1 - you need 2), thus that port will not be usable. If you don't plan on using it, it probably isn't a big deal, but here's a board that has sufficient headers: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/3Mxbt6/msi-mag-b550-tomahawk-atx-am4-motherboard-mag-b550-tomahawk. It'll cost a little extra, but it does also have a nice feature where you can update the BIOS without a CPU. Its predecessor, the B450 Tomahawk, was very popular partly because of this.

Third one refers to the mounting hardware for putting the CPU in. If your CPU cooler doesn't come with an AM4 bracket, you can request one from Noctua. See this page for more information: https://noctua.at/en/nm-am4-mounting-kit. It might come with a bracket, so don't request one until you've received your cooler.

Fourth one is just a disclaimer that it doesn't know everything about your parts. However, you're using low-profile RAM, so you shouldn't have to worry about compatibility regarding the RAM and cooler.
